i'd honestly highly suggest not getting ffxi on steam.. it can fuck with a lot of things especially if you already have it downloaded

Only thing the Steam version fucks with is the registry keys, where it redirects the FFXI folder paths to the Steam version and that's it.

Also worth noting FFXI via Steam doesn't use a Steam-specific EXE, meaning you can run the game without Steam even being loaded. I just made a shortcut of the POL EXE on my desktop and was good to go.

Steam sale : Oblivion GOTY for 4.99 and the digital delux GOTY for 6.49 for the midweek madness... I picked up the digital deluxe since my oblivion copy was on 360 and no longer have the brobox.

I already own the entirety of Oblivion on disc format, so I'm not really hurting that much for a Steam copy. But Morrowind? Never played the expansions, and that shit never had a proper sale in the last year. For those picking up Oblivion though, may as well get the digital deluxe version just so you have all of the DLC offered for it.
