Pokemon Platinum

It's really hard to decide if I should play through normally on my Platinum game, or use my rom and have rare candies etc. I guess yeah the game is stupid when you cheat like that, but grinding is so lame.

I'll probably just keep my current platinum game since I'm already a few hours in... but gdi I still don't know which eevee to pick for the story haha. Now if only I can get fire red rom on my dsi...

Anyone able to help me out trading some pokemon to my Platinum version? I've got a few pokemon in my Pearl version I'd like to move to my Platinum version. Or, if you've got eggs or lvl 5 versions of the starters you want to trade I'd be more than willing to take a few off your hands. Basically just trying to assemble a nice team before I move onward, currently just a Turtwig and Staravia (level 17 and 14 respectively)

Personally I would make a Jolteon. Good special attack and a decent move pool. I don't think the psychic one is very good but Umbreon is solid.

Pssh, you don't have to grind. I just beat the Champion just running along, even was using Max Repels in a lot of places to avoid randoms.

Top level was a L52 Torterra, everything else was 47-50 at the end. Gallade, Luxray, Gyrados, Golduck, and motherfookin' BIBARREL (the HM-bitch!) for the win.

Leech seed damage + lots of healing items = you only have to dodge being one-shotted and heal, heal, heal! Ate through a metric ton of Milks/Hyper Pots/Full Restores/Revives though.

PMd you, I suggest Vaporeon since you already have an electric and rotom has some nice immunities and will learn Discharge which is better than anything Jolteon will get, tbh. Jolteon sucks without breeding for Tbolt for STAB. Whereas you can easily teach a Vaporeon Surf and have a sexy STAB move and Move Tutor Signal Beam and cover Psychic and Dark types. Aurora Beam is a nice bonus too covers your Dragon and Flying types. With Acid Armor or Aqua Ring that vaporeon could be quite durable and sweep entire teams, easily.

Of course, I could easily just clone a Thunderbolt TM from my emerald and send it to you but it's at my old apartment and I'm in my summer apartment at the moment so you'd have to wait until Late August to get it from me, so no Jolteon imo.

While I agree that vaporeon is a good poke and a good fit (type-wise) on this team, I'm going to have to stand up for jolteon a bit.
Thunderbolt is a TM in this game that is easily obtained after unlocking surf outside of battle, and can be bought unlimited times after that from the game corner. Personally I prefer T-bolt to discharge, but jolteon learns discharge in plat, so that's not an issue.
Jolteon can also learn shadowball, besides that you'll have to pray for a nice hidden power for Sp. Atk moves, and maybe go with thunderwave for status.
A jolteon T-bolt will hit even a neutral poke hella hard, which is what I go for when I play the storyline. Vaporeon is a good poke, but a more defense-oriented fighter.

Didn't know Torterra is such a beast, love the defense.

Just beat Wake, I love starting over from scratch, and this 4 man team is pretty challenging and fun.

Don't like how it's impossible to catch a Gastly that knows Hypnosis (they forget it from shitty levels up moves in the wild), so I decide to breed a few and see if any decent natures/ivs rear their heads.

First batch of 5, shitty natures like Brave and Naughty but I managed to get two Modest which is pretty nice. Just got done checking the IVs on the first one and boy did I hit the fucking lucky man's jackpot. I can't believe it...

I don't even think I'll need to check the other one, really got lucky the only shitty stat there is it's speed but it'll still be a fucking amazing parent with 3 perfect stats. Also, all this walking around has gotten my Riolu to the necessary happiness to evolve I believe, just need to level him up tomorrow morning. Good times.

edit: Yeah, second Gastly turned out to be your typically shitty pokemon with a terrible IV makeup.

If you didn't know there's a trainer before the last gym named rich boy trey that you can vs. seek. He only has one Luxio/ray (not sure in Plat). You can make a lot of money off of him with the amulet coin (I think he's gives the highest pay out of any versus seeker NPC). The money will come in really fast (like 8-10k per win, with coin iirc) and you will gain a good amount of levels as well. He's the first trainer on the path outside of (can't think of the name right now and I'm at work) the town that's not really a town >.> it doesn't have a poke center but you can rest up at the hotel.

You gave me a move set for my vaporeon, and I think you said Aurora Beam.

Currently he has Surf, Aurora Beam, Blizzard, and Bite... JUST got Ice Beam like 30seconds ago, do I replace Aurora or Blizzard with it? Or save it? Blizzard rapes shit even though its not stab, but it misses way too much, so thats what I might toss. Aurora beam is nice since its got more PP than Ice Beam, so I don't have to waste any PP on spamming icebeam if something is too low.

I don't think I'll ever have an Ice pokemon to stab Ice Beam with, so should i just give it to vaporeon over blizzard anyway, and eventually maybe toss out aurora when I pick up maybe signal beam?

As soon as I find my other DS, which is action replayed, I'll have an infinite amount of TM's so getting another Ice beam might not be all that difficult (as long as I can find the DS...)
