    It's not some sort of omfgwtfend-all-be-all piece of armor, all a D Ring does is ultimately compliment the gear around it as well as the tank's abilities.

    Granted imo a D Ring does more for a shitty Paladin than a good one, and anyone who would disagree with this needs a generic math lesson. A good paladin would be able to more properly utilize it though.
    Basically this ^, I don't need one to hold hate, but if I won rank 1 you can bet your ass I'd take one for my pld.

    Spoiler: show
    Who am I kidding, I want it for my blm/rdm/brd/smn idle set.

This is in addition to its uses for /RDM and for moves that take long enough for you to switch macros (GoH, Fulmination, Wrath of Zeus, Lightning Spear etc.)

    True but nearly *any* --single piece-- of gear is the same way right? You can be a good tank without Homam Cosciales for example. Getting them will improve you vastly. But you will do fine without it.

    The point is merely that Dring is not "obsolete." There's a difference between gear being not-worth-the-task and being obsolete. The gear isn't obsolete just because you hate Kings (the biggest perpetration of this is with Ridill)

    It's no different from a situation in which you wanted to go to Harvard their whole life... until you are confronted with the criterion to actually get into Harvard. Then you suddenly come up with all these reasons the school you will actually matriculate into is better than Harvard and all these reasons Harvard sucks because you don't want to cram for that perfect SAT and GPA. Tell yourself whatever you want but you wanted to go to Harvard for a reason and your posturing is just a pretentious self-delusion. Better to accept that Harvard is a better school and you didn't have it in you to get to (or do what is necessary to get into) Harvard, but that you don't need to go to Harvard to live a good fulfilling life.

    Somewhat fair but it depends on your LS, my LS can handel wings pretty well so it's not much of a threat. However most of the mobs on that list you shouldn't even have your weapon drawn on anyway.

    Ok, which furthers my point that arguing Acc Rings > Defending Ring is a horrible horrible horrible idea?

    No, you're just trying to defend a bunch of nothing.

    Seriously, if you don't think a Hybrid PLD is good you're an idiot.

    How about if you claim within the first 5-10 seconds of pop it will be raged. The time you wait is a random time between 5-10 secs. So if you want to claim before everyone else you claim it quickly! but it might be raged or play it safe and claim at 10 seconds so its not raged.

    No I'm saying Dring is a valuable item for tanks that fight hard mobs and it is hardly "obsolete" as you defended (but didn't defend at the start apparently)

    Hybrid PLD is good for what? Sky gods? If your argument is Dring is obsolete because its inferior to tank Byakko in, then you're beyond hope. Any HNM worth mentioning was on the "Dring is useful for..." list.

    I guess I forgot this is coming from someone who's said COR isn't a support job.

    Quick question, have you ever tried Hybrid before?

    EDIT: Also, have you ever played COR?

    Is this how crazy a potentially awesome update makes people? Are we seriously suggesting Defending Ring isn't a sexy piece of ass? Useful for literally every job. Definitely situational, but it lacks any real substitute.

    My lord, I would get it just to make tanking Proto-Ultima that much more laughable. I think people are _really_ stretching it when they would openly choose Acc rings (and not even great ones) to idle in (for Paladin) over a Defending Ring.

    Does it matter? And for what mobs? I haven't done it on those mobs I've listed above, because it would be stupid.

    But sure I can imagine there are situations where you don't need a full defensive based set up and you'll do just fine with DPS hate. But any mob where a Paladin can keep hate through DPS is ridiculously boring and easy. And it certainly doesn't justify the claim "Dring is obsolete." Just because Dring is inferior in accuracy rings for a certain small group of mobs doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme. That's like saying Gjallarhorn is obsolete because of Storm Fife. You are completely ignoring the mass amounts of content besides Salvage which the Gjallarhorn gives a bonus and Storm Fife does not.

    And I'm laughing at the notion you would try argue Corsair isn't a support job to try harmonize your leveling of it with your policy of not playing support jobs. Whether it can do damage or not isn't the issue; the fact is that it buffs, people use them for buffs, and people would not invite them if they couldn't buff. And yes, I have played COR. And yes it is a support in my opinion.

    its a newer generation taking over soon. pretty soon they'll start thinking ridill is the strongest merit weapon again, because it was 3 years ago when they were noobs and desired one.

    The difference is you refuse to prove anything, you refuse to even argue. You just restate an unwarranted claim over and over as if repetition of a fallacy will suddenly make it true and convince people.

    I have actually provided a list of NMs in which Accuracy Rings and Hybrid Paladins are absolutely worthless.

    Why argue? I tried the same shit with you on Neko and you just can't accept anything but your own ideas.

    Here's a thought. You don't convince people because you're not doing a good job. Your ideas suck, and your arguments for them are worse. When you are proven wrong you just restate and then fall back on the equivalent of "SS or it didn't happen." Then you ignore arguments instead of grappling with them. I don't need exposure to your ideas or ways of thinking, I need reasons why I should think that way instead of my own way. Prove, don't claim.

    Instead of trying to make an argument about why Hybrid Paladin is useful, even providing a list like I did, you just claim ignorance because I haven't tried it. This is made more ironic by the fact that I only tank things which by your own admission Hybrid Paladins are useless on.

    Your "You can't judge it unless you've tried it" argument is stupid. Very clearly there are things you can say are stupid without doing them yourself. Case in point: stabbing yourself in the eye. I've never done it. But I can say it's pretty retarded nonetheless.

    PALADIN HYBRID BUILD

    Everything you'd normally wear for Paladin, meaning Enmity, Haste, Shield, and Oh Shit swaps. Switch Mainhand to Joyeuse (Or Hauteclaire if you'd rather) And:

    Spoiler: show
    http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/ff...oradoSushi.JPG

    * Dexterity +5
    * Resist Sleep
    * Accuracy +15%
    * Ranged Accuracy +15%
    * Enmity +3

    Enjoy!

    Edit: Because obviously if you'd rather stack accuracy than defensive gear, just swap your taco/pescatora for this.
