Two comments:

2) For all you people interested in server economies, the way they are doing the gil distribution this time almost ensures that gil will be removed from the economy as a result of this. The only way it wouldn't is if every R1, R2, and R3 winner chose the gil option as their prize... there's almost no chance that will happen.

I can't remember the net of last years Bonanza, but I think there was debate on whether or not it would boost or reduce gil in circulation ... this year there will be no doubt.
