Prepaid Debit Card for FFXI Fees?

Almost any prepaid visa card works except the vanilla gift card. I tried the vanilla one and POL would not accept it. I called playonline and the only thing they told me was that the server was busy.. I went out, got a different prepaid visa card and it worked as soon as i registered the card online. If it rejects your card 3 times in a row within a short period of time they lock down the account for 30 minutes (the playonline support guy told me this).

I'm thinking there's registration server lag or problems, I've gone through 3 cards today trying to activate a mule account. One card says incorrect address, one says security code does not match, and the prepaid card I just tried says incorrect info or busy server

Its how the account selling site's keep accounts active til sold, if being sold by an Admin

As far as I know, the main issue is the Pre-Authorization charge that goes through. Most pre-paid cards don't let it go through, but some will. GreenDot cards work however as has been mentioned, vanilla brand won't. You could check online and you'll see a $1 charge that hasn't been removed. Basically, they hit your card to make sure it's active and if it doesn't return properly it will reject the card. If you've registered the card and entered the info and it doesn't work, chance is the card won't work. Try for a greendot, I know for a fact those will work.

GreenDot worked fine earlier.

Out of paranoia, I updated my member info to the Card info, then changed the payment data.

Dunno if that matters, as GreenDot works it seems.

Err... So I tried this a few days ago (as posted above) and it supposedly wasn't working, yet did one of those check charges of $1. My account online still says my card has $24 (it's a $25 card) on it several days later. >.<

Anyone know anything about this?

Online transactions charge $1 to your card, then take it back off in order to verify that your Credit Card is valid. If you disconnect between the two stages, the charge will remain on there. That happened to me when I was trying to change CC info on my account the last time. When I finally managed to actually switch it, the $1 charge went away.

Prepaid cards usually don't have a billing address registered to them right away, but provide a means for you to register one to them for online purchases and such. You'll have to go through the phone call or web site to register an address to the card before FFXI will accept it as payment. A bank-issued CheckCard is easier to deal with because it spends straight from your bank account, and is registered to the address your bank has on file to you.

My bank does some kind of "virtual credit card" shit where it gives you a fake number for a few months. I'm running one of my accounts on that because it wouldn't let me use the normal card number for some reason when I was signing it up :/

Ok so I have a Green dot Gold card (visa) and when I go to do the whole "verify by visa" thing it says its not eligible.... wtf :: why! currently my bank doesnt have this whole securecode shit =/ What gives!

Because it isn't eligible. Use the noscript fix like I do every other month. Also "random question thread, necro bumps etc."
