Got real HIDs for my car. The kit itself cost 200 and installation was fairly simple. Never really get any complaints about the bright light blinding them. Hell, I drive behind cops at night and they don't do shit.

they are much safer to drive with especially if you live in areas that are not well lit up. the HID's also light up the corner of the direction you are about to turn which is nice so u can see peds, animals or other oncoming hazards.

obviously the HID's you see on the road are blinding you from the benefits of having them.

You've been reading too much marketing material. Or are just too eager to justify the shinyness. They look cool, and it will still be a few years before LEDs replace them as the 'exclusive' headlight, but they're no safer than a good set of halogen.

the difference is the add-on kit you can choose what temp or "color" you want. from what i have seen many of the newer cars do have a blueish tint to the lights so im not sure what temp they choose to go with, im guessing around 8k tho.

as for Avinor's statement- no marketing influence here, im just going by the difference i see with my old halogens compared to the HID's. and untill you see the difference with your own eyes that they make on your car with and without HID's compared to halogen, its hard to say they dont make a difference in safety.

im only here to make a valid argument of defending these lights. i was skeptical at first but after installing them and taking the time to aim them correctly and testing them (like i said before if you took the time to read) by driving in front of my car in another vehicle to see if i had them adjusted right, i became convinced that if used properly they wont blind oncoming drivers. if most new cars are using these lights, they cant be that bad considering they are DOT legal for street use. and better get used to it cuz more and more cars will have them until LED's replace them and who knows they might be brighter than these. just dont look into the light, you wouldnt look directly at the sun right? change lanes if there in your mirror. let them pass you, its probly better they drive in front of you anyways so they light up the road better.

This is the projection headlights should display (particularly HIDs, since they are more focused, and the cutoff is far more noticeable):

Notice how the driver's side lamp (for left-hand drive cars) does not project out as far as the passenger. Reduces the beam pointing at oncoming traffic. Halogens are set up the same, though a few degrees of pitch/angle won't make as much of a difference compared to HIDs.

I imagine most of the cars Zilla is dealing with aren't properly set up. Done right HIDs shouldn't be significantly more obnoxious, but done even a bit wrong they'll piss people off.

If your headlights are in a reflector housing and not projectors and they are any color other than pure white they are illegal. The thing people who want cool "blue" or "purple" headlights don't understand is that the color they see when that BMW or Acura drives by them is created as a byproduct of the cut of the projector lens and the thickness and position of the shield. There are ZERO cars that come from a factory dealer with anything but pure white headlights.

Car dealers also make HID reflector housing but they are specially designed to focus and direct the increase amount of output safely. Putting an HID kit into your factory reflector housing is dangerous and stupid. They are also not BLUE! STOP putting colored bulbs in your headlights! the lights from a legal a proper HID setup will appear pure WHITE.

HID's are nice to have, they allow greater sight at night when its most crucial and draw less power from vehicle electrical system while looking nice to boot. and the only way to understand it is to drive at night in a car with said lights. until then, shut the fuck up and look away, change lanes. your obvious inability to view things from a different perspective is disgusting.

and for Zhais, if your getting followed by a car with HID's and they are too bright, there is a neat lil thing ur rear view mirror can do, it can adjust up and down with a tab that prevents blinding from bright lights, try it out sometime. and stop looking at the lights like a fucking retarded moth. theres lots of things in life that you dont like and cant change, deal with it or if u cant beat em, join em cuz its just a matter of time before all late-model cars have similar lights.

First off, you don't have to wear anything. Second, because some "chavy boy racer" uses an alternate form of lighting suddenly everything is wrong with the world? If the lights are properly installed, you wouldn't be blinded.
As for everyone complaining about "omg, can't see shit captain" I've been driving since I was 16. My attitude towards HID probably stems from being jaded on Californian roads. If you don't like something, move out of the way or bear with it. If you've driven a lot longer than I have, then you should be used to it as well. Nothing you say here will change the outcome. Nothing.

Hell, in half the cities I've been to, you can probably commute just fine at night without turning your headlights on at all.

If only my side-view mirrors had that nifty little thing as well. It's not a matter of staring into lights, it's a matter of "OH FUCK I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING INCLUDING THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING" because of retarded, misaligned, unnaturally bright lights. They are unsafe, end of story.

And before you tell me to move my side-mirrors... If I have to modify that which provides me safety and knowledge of everything around me, then they are unsafe.
