aw somebody took a shit in my bed....
/shrug
im already really tired
im just gonna go to sleep and worry about it later
i mean, its just where i sleep right?
it doesnt matter lulz
This is my excuse any time I forget to take them off. And what a wonderful one it is.
I like them for idling in (except when curing Bahamut's Mask PLDs or DRGs), it's nice to not have to worry about anticipating when you might have to run and swap gear accordingly. I'm already bored as shit most of the time I'm on RDM. Runfast is addictive and that's one thing I really don't care to micromanage.
For the record, you were actually in the same Dynamis run and didn't accomplish anything special. Haste, refresh, sleep, rinse, repeat. (followed by 30 seconds of stunning)... WOOT!
(And in my case, Phalanx II) Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.............
How's that for a kick in the balls?!
a rdm who's really good at their job should never be noticed really. if mobs are sleeping, people are refreshed/hasted, pets are silenced in dyna, etc, you never notice the rdm doing all that work behind the scenes. if a rdm doesn't leverage af2 body/af1 head to get their spells off faster, strategically apply convert to get the extra MP to help the other healers, or whatever goof happens, THEN you notice them. i COULD do decently enough on rdm with nothing more than a set of staves, but i can do BETTER with my full af2, full morg, full hq staves, etc. my brd can sing just fine with an NQ coronet, but i can do BETTER with more gear.
wtf
i thought its only for running(or solo), catching up wlegs PLD when kiting, and convert if you dont wanna spend on other + HP and MP stuffs
other than that, anything else is prolly better
and not to mention alot of PLD have this thing call "Bahamut mask"
I'd be willing to bet that if you were in our LS no one would notice.
I've actually tested it out. Most of the time I have macros for every situation that use nearly every piece of relevant gear in the game for rdm, and I don't think twice about it.
Sometimes I purposely gimp it up just to see what happens. And guess what... no one even notices.
Reality is that the biggest improvement in your playing ability comes simply from being interested in what you are doing. It is amazing how many mistakes happen to amazingly geared groups of players simply because they are bored out of their minds. A group of players wearing very basic gear will out perform the same group of players in max gear if they are simply interested in what they are doing... the exception being relic weapons since they do actually radically change a players capabilities.
If you want to think that switching between fast cast and haste matters, then by all means knock yourself out... I know I do. But don't think for a second that it matters.
You know what does matter? Anticipation and paying attention.... matters way more than 20% fast cast.... fact.
Missed something: I don't remember the last time I converted without being the groups main healer... I mean, I even have a pretty nice macro from it, and some fluffy gear... maybe the disconnect between us is the people we are surround by. I don't mean that as an insult, just saying that it makes a big difference in how you play and want is required of each individual.
If your at the point in the game where you either got it from your linkshell, or merced it out your past the point in asking this kind of dumb ass question.
You know the answer and if your not swapping them out your lazy.
it's entirely possible they got it for pld and are wondering how best to use it with rdm. rdm is not the only job that can wear it, after all.
Could use as convert piece if MP and HP are way outta whack(?) Maybe people don't swap them because they are on console and have limited macro lines for curing and shit? Idk. I would rather an RDM switched out haste and Cure potency gear over +MND but thats me. I don't know much about RDM personally so I suppose, like all things in FFXI, the answer is more certainly: It depends.
Erm, you mention Cure potency, Haste and MND but not -enmity? RDMs should prioritize -enmity for Cures (after potency, of course).
I think you mean "switched in"
This is the only thing in the thread that I completely 100% agree with. You can slack through a run or you can be up on the edge of your seat and as soon as you kick into a higher gear and start paying attention you realise you are playing better and the run is going better as a result.Reality is that the biggest improvement in your playing ability comes simply from being interested in what you are doing.
I have something to admit: I only swap 3 items for curing, af+1 hat, apollo's, relic body.I spose saio should go there, but cmon, I've had these same macros since I was a wee baby rdm, you want me to change them now?
Also no bahamut's masks in my LS, and fuck drgs.
