No word on how long the server will be down? Or are they just not fixing it or something?
they will... in time
I got extra parts laying around if that helps /cryingeyes
ffffffffffff
They have top men working on it.
God, I hope they're not looking into it.
fundraiser hmmmmmmmmmmmm?
I still say others have said it best. This site is/was like crack. Always cool to put competitive gear sets against each other and see the basic differences between them, even if it's a few attack, or some ACC. Plus, the food addition is nice as all hell too.
I always thought this site was too good to be true, like some kinda catch... like it was RMT hosting the site and going there put all sorts of nasty keyloggers or something.
Then I started using it and it was like the above poster said.
Now that it's gone, I'm all sadface.
...I'm not usually one to donate to paypal, being a pirate, but I wonder if we could get a legit paypal thing to donate to the owner... if money's an issue. Probably too easy to exploit though, seeing as anyone could post a paypal and say it's theirs...
Hurry back ffxigear.com D:
I like FFXIAH's sets better because they actually have all the gear and I just use FFXICalc for the other stuff(and I can enter mob stats). Site is overrated imo.
/flamesuit
Because it's like an official SE partner site thingy shouldn't they help get it sorted? It's stupud it's taking this long
FFXICalc is better and FFXIGear was missing a lot of items. Most of them were added as more people started using the site but they were still missing some uncommon items. I'm not sure how their item DB is updated because when they first launched they were missing stuff like Fire Bomblet and other common/older items too.
I find FFXIAH sets easier to use, faster to make and they're obviously more reliable. FFXICalc is faster for calculating your own total acc, acc% if you know the mob stats, and applying whatever buffs you may have. It's regularly updated and it does a lot more than just melee stats too.
There's no single feature of FFXIGear that makes it better than any other site/app/whatever already out there(and most of those do it better). I'm not saying it isn't a useful site for having (some)of those things all in one place but it far from being the "awesomely awesome" site that everyone claims it is. With some improvements it could be but in its current version it's not.
Wasn't flame-baiting btw. Like I said though the site is extremely overrated so I was just preparing for all the people telling me I was wrong(most with no real argument to support their opinion).
I used it up until the point it went down and after the first month of bug fixes (where people using it notice problems and report them) I never found an item that was missing or a latent that didn't work. That's not to say they aren't there, just that I never found them.
The advantage FFXIGEAR has over Calc is... it is web based, as you can see from my sig, I am at work. I can't download and install apps on work PCs without being burnt at the stake.
The advantage FFXIGEAR has over FFXIAH is... how fast you can build sets (imo its faster on ffxigear), the fact you can limit gear choices to a job/level and that it does summations of STR, DEX acc etc including the base stats (unlike FFXIAH).
FFXIGEAR brought features previously only found in offline programs and put it on the web, that was why it was great. With things like buffs and merits added it would have only got better
Pleasantly worded and reason argument for FFXIGEAR being great
Well first point is opinion(auto-suggest and near instant add of gear is faster for me) but you have me on the other points. I think adding those things to FFXIAH would be a bit beyond what they originally wanted for Item Sets.
FFXIGear is probably better for creating new gear sets(when you're not sure exactly what items you want). I only use FFXIAH for sets I already have/know what I want in them. It still needs improvements though(getting back up being one of them).
also better to do everything in one rather than use FFXIAH (which is by far worse than FFXIGEAR IMO) then take it to another program.
I can agree with this
FFXIAH is better for advertising "He is my WS set, isn't it great?!" or keeping track (and some minor tweaking) of your existing sets.
But for more 'off the wall' messing around and building new sets from scratch FFXIGear is win. I used to use it when trying to tweak sets, "where should I add acc without losing str?" etc.
It's pretty easy to draw the perfect TP or WS set for most jobs given access to all the gear in the game. But when you are limited the trade offs aren't as clear cut or well know and FFXIgear helped show the differences.
