This is neither here nor there:
If the Enspell II won't proc on a double attack hit, does this mean that if a Samba Daze is on the mob, they'll get the daze on the second hit instead?
Food for thought, I suppose.![]()
Don't forget nerfed Gravity n' stuff...
Also figure that, while RDM did get Convert and all that put in (prior to that it was the job nobody wanted), that was also at a time when lots of jobs were getting lots of additions and tweaks. Tier II merits, while nice, aren't exactly new capabilities outside of Phalanx II.
RDM has seen very little since FFXI hit retail shelves outside of Japan, which is the experience most of us are looking at.
Sorry, let me restate.
Freeze: 307 MP, Casting Time: 17.75 seconds, Recast Time: 90 seconds, base dmg: 577
Freeze II: 287 MP, Casting Time: 10 seconds, Recast Time: 90 seconds, base dmg: 710
level 70 BP: 164 MP, dmg(spiders outside aht urhgan) around 1600-2000.
Merit BP: 182 MP, dmg(spiders outside aht urhgan) 5/5 merits and 5/5 MAB merits 1175, with MB 1527. Less DMG on same mob, even with MB, for more MP.
So I would take a 20% increase in dmg for 68% more MP, what we got was about a 10% increase in MP cost for a -5% to -24% decrease in damage...and that's with MB the best case. I picked EP mobs because anything IT+ and you'll start to see frequent resists, way more resists then the misses you'd get from Predator Claws or Spinning Dive.
The only time they are even slightly useful is when a monster resists physical damage, and even then Nether blast doesn't generally get resisted for 50 dmg and it's only 108 MP.
To all the people saying SMN doesn't need some fix or change, then why don't we get into merit PTs? BLM is the same. Just because we do well in end game events cause of a technicality, that we get no hate for dmg(or blms doing good dmg and crowd control), does not make up for the fact that everywhere else we suffer.
SMN now is perfect for the game 4 years ago, before ToAU. In a traditional PT set up with SCs and MBs.
Yep, which is why I say compared to other jobs, it's pretty clear that RDM doesn't really...need much of anything nowadays compared to a job like SMN. Then you have the whole NIN situation which went from a non-tank job to a tank job and since it's completely different than how SE designed it to be it would be hard to make additions/adjustments for.
RDM though...what exactly is wrong with it? What more does it need when just in this thread alone you can read about all that a (good) RDM can do..compared to hearing about SMN you hear all that it CAN'T do because of 'x reason.'
I've had PLDs /NIN geared for DD in merit PTs, I have never once been a SMN in, or been with a SMN in, a merit PT. But yes, PLD, BLM and SMN are suited more for the traditional PT set up. I've actually had a BLM once @ mamool camp as well, though they need to be brought back into the PT scene.
I've had a pretty good Summoner main healing for a merit party before.
What the fuck are you talking about? SMN is the single best exp job in the game hands-down.
What are people realistically expecting for the buff increase %, and the recast % penalty? I'm thinking something like +100% duration and +50% recast penalty.
