New RMT attacks

Two people in my LS got hacked between 8-11am GMT today. One of them uses firefox + noscript, clicks his password in using SEs keyboard and the only other person who knew his info was me (I also use firefox, noscript etc.). The other person I don't know as much, he shared his account information with 1 other person in the ls also but not me.

No passwords were changed, no r/e gear was dropped, just all the sellables of value were taken. Seems to have been fairly rushed as they missed a number of items on both accounts but they got the bulk of expensive items.

No ideas on how their passwords were aquired as there is nothing that links it all together.

Here's where he likely said it's 'fear mongering'..because if you read this thread (and some others) there are some people who were too afraid to even check messages regardless that they "get them from friends/SE" so it does kind of make people too paranoid when there was little to no proof that it was a message/mail that hacked them.

Really, there still seems to be something missing from the story, but it's kind of like when these hackings first started:

"I didn't share my info or anything! I was on and the RMT just hacked my account without any trojans or keyloggers, they've found a way to hack SE's servers!"

Then it turns out they had a rootkit installed.

I never said that. Anyways an update on this, it wasn't done by RMT. It turns out Serv had also PM'd his ID/PW on our forums so that was how the accounts were compromised. Whether it was done by someone in our LS or not, I don't know. I only know whoever did it was very knowledgeable about PoL account details and how to change them.

You should really add more detail to the OP explaining what really happened, to drive the point home about not sharing your account info with anyone, ever, for whatever reason.

1st bold: I know, I'm talking about when the hackings first started 2 yearsish ago, that's what people were saying when it turns out that they got infected/shared account info not RMT hacking SE/POL servers randomly.

2nd bold: Like I said before in this thread, there's ALWAYS that crucial piece of info left out.

It takes maybe...2 minutes max to go through a database's PM logs and gank that account info, so I'd start questioning whoever has intimate access to the server side info.
