Does anyone know what the fuck is going on with the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels? I've got The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya, and have had it for a while now. I haven't read it, but I am fairly certain it does not conclude the story.

I'm not sure if it's because I read it as it released, but it seemed to be pretty disjointed in the last year or so.
I may jump back 100 chapters or so and re-read it to see if I enjoy it more.

Okay, so I went back and started reading Bastard!!.

It's kind of mind fucking me. There was a 2 year time skip which was fine the first time, but now there's been a second time skip that seemingly has all the major characters die off.. ONLY TO BE FINE A LITTLE LATER IN WHAT SEEMS LIKE ANOTHER WORLD!? Not to mention giant demonic dragon mechs, and all the scripture/religious imagery which is just weird.
