Manga Discussion Thread (Spoilers Abound)

Makes perfect sense when you think of it as a coping mechanism.
She's latching onto him as a kind of replacement so that she doesn't have to think about the fact that her boyfriend is dead. It also helps her to not think about how her father at best was on the front lines against the zombies and as such is probably dead like most law enforcement officials. Asami is the only live cop they see and we all know how that ended.

I get all that. That's really part of the reason I don't like her. During all this running and killing they are doing, they are trying to play up this romantic rivalry between Rei and Saeko for Takashi. Rei is just grabbing onto something familiar: a boy from her childhood, a guy to protect her, a way to forget Hahashi. Where as Saeko seems to genuinely like Takashi for who he is not just because she's trying to cope. Plus it seems every interaction with Takashi, Rei is chewing him out about something.

I'm usually one to read the manga before the anime if I'm aware of the series, but I just prefer the anime to the manga, so what Ive done these last 2 times is watch the anime then read the chapter the episode covered. That may change later, but as of right now I'm perfectly able to wait the week.

I can see where you're coming from. The animation in the anime (so far) is really good and it has a really nice atmosphere, but I kinda prefer the style in the manga. Sometimes it can get borderline doujin (which I'm ashamed to say I like lol) and I definately can't see the anime going quite as far in that direction as the manga would. I'm currently caught up on the manga but will definitely watch all of the anime if it keeps up this great quality.

Music is definitely a deciding factor for this, especially in horror type shows where atmosphere is everything. I've never been scared of a comic or book in my entire life, but TV, movies and games will constantly freighten me.

Hearing the subtle noises, heavy/panicked breathing and some creepy music will always add to the experience. I'm sure you can simulate that, but it isn't the same.

I don't really think either the anime or manga is scary. I don't read/watch to be scared. I read/watch for the story and the action and just about every every chick in the series being well endowed doesn't hurt either.

It's a new series by KAMACHI Kazuma (Index *Novels+Manga* and RailGun) It's fairly new series, only 2 volumes released so far*On Going series* and with 2 chapters translated so far.

It's mix of action, fanservice and comedy.(Inue Shinsuke the Artist of Heavy Object does Hentai, so yes the fanservice is little extreme).

Hajime no Ippo 900

First off, wow 900 chapters, it's hard to believe that there was a manga out there that could keep me interested for this long. They did a pretty good job setting up Itagaki's fight, and showing him with doubts as to his ability to end the fight faster than Ippo did. I'm trying to decide if this is going to be a massive failure on his part or epic win since I can see it going both ways. I'm leaning more towards the epic win since they already did the massive failure with him early in his pro career. At any rate the A-rank tourny fights are looking to be more interesting than the other recent fights, so that has me excited.

The fight has started and it looks like things are going in Itagaki's favor. It does seem that Karasawa has a plan for how to deal with Itagaki's speed, so it should be interesting to see how much pressure that he can put on Itagaki and if Itagaki can handle it.

My only issue with this manga is how date almost lost to ippo in their fight, yet he improved so much in a short time to fight ricardo and fight really well against him, he even out classed miyata easily same with ricardo out classing ippo. Yet ippo has not improved all that much since that fight, atleast no where near date eiji's improvements. when will he finally improve to the extent that we see him rape the person he fights next, and will finally have his fight against either miyata or challenge the world champ.

Well, Ippo has destroyed a couple of opponents already. The guy Itagaki is fighting right now Ippo beat in the second round obviously. He also took out a doode something like 15 seconds into the fight when he opened for Takamura's fight against Hawk. Albeit, the guy did slip as he was about to counter Ippo's Dempsey, so the quick knockout was a bit of a fluke.

But I do agree. I'm tired of seeing Ippo win, but get the shit kicked out of him at the same time. Ippo needs more fights where he takes less damage and consequently, less brain hemorrhaging .

I actually thought Ippo was getting to that "god stomp" level after he beat Karasawa, and I could forgive his fight against the old guy cause he gave Ippo trouble through sheer experience, and Scratch J wasn't a long fight. But both Gedo and Woli were just terrible. I can only hope that Aoki's match is hilarious, and that maybe Takamura goes on a journey around Japan again for laughs.

And Itagaki is looking more and more like he's gonna leave the gym to be able to fight Ippo, he's not that far off from his own title shot.

It pains me to announce that this is the last week of manga reading on One Manga (!!). Manga publishers have recently changed their stance on manga scanlations and made it clear that they no longer approve of it. We have decided to abide by their wishes, and remove all manga content (regardless of licensing status) from the site. The removal of content will happen gradually (so you can at least finish some of the outstanding reading you have), but we expect all content to be gone by early next week (RIP OM July '10).

So what next? We're not really sure at this point, but we have some ideas we would like to try out. Until then, the One Manga forums will remain active and we encourage all of you to continue using them. OMF has developed into a great community and it would be a shame to see that disappear.

You can also show us some love in this moment of sadness by 'liking' our brand new Facebook page. It would be nice to see just how many of you came to enjoy our 'better than peanut butter and jelly' invention.

Regardless of whether you stay with us or not, on behalf of the One Manga team, I would like to thank you all for your unwavering support over the years. Through the ups and downs you have stuck with us, and that is what kept us going.

We hoped it wouldn't come to this, but due to mounting legal pressure, we have been advised to remove all series serialized by the publishers in the coalition. This was a very difficult decision to make, and one we did not take lightly. Unfortunately this means we have had to remove the majority of our library, however we have been able to retain some manga, as well as most of our manhua and manhwa. We will be shifting the focus of the site more to manhwa and manhua (Korean and Chinese manga). For some of you, this may be your last visit to MangaToshokan, but before you leave we would appreciate it if you could fill out a short six question survey that we are going to share the results to the publishers. If nothing else, we hope it will make them aware of the consequences of their actions. Also if you could pass this survey on to other people we would appreciate it. Again, we apologize for this, but we don't have any other options at this point.

http://www.mangatoshokan.com Has apparently been under similar pressure and removed everything. An interesting thing I noticed across a few other websites is that this "coalition" they are speaking of consist of the Japanese mangas. The Chinese and Korean ones are still very chill and acceptable.
