See, this is what happens when you rage and don't read. The link I posted is not sarcasm, it is an explanation of the slippery slope logical fallacy.

You are making a slippery slope argument, e.g. if something happens now, then worse things will happen in the future.

It removes the logic of the situation which is that we make decisions along the way, and each person is capable of making the decision of what they will and won't accept.

You have also completely missed the point about the fact that it is logical for SE to do this to get the dongles out to players so they can decrease worrying about accounts being stolen.

My inventory space has no effect on how you play the game. It won't suddenly get me into a top HNMLS or get me more PTs. Job updates affect game balance whereas more inventory does not.

As far as I can tell this has had no effect on how other people play FFXI. See I don't think they'll do this because itd be a bad business decision.

I can see them stoping free updates when ther player base gets too small to support and only releasing job updates with paid online expansions but thatd be a long time off and probably around the time when they'd be winding the game down.

It seems that way. Whm don't need those changes so paying 10 bucks for them should be ok.

You still get job updates and stuff, even if you don't purchase expansions. You still get icon updates, etc, as those are updates released at the same time as expansions.

So ranting about possibly charging us for that is kinda dumb, since it's not precedented. WHMs will still get Solace and Misery, whether or not they buy... (um, what's thie mini-expansion called again?).

On the other hand, inventory space has ALWAYS been tied to having to have had bought an expansion... so you could argue we're paying 9.99 for the 10 slots since there's not much more in the mini-expansion, or much that we know of anyway... and then $10 for the 80 slots.

I understand where you're coming from, and yes, you never know what could be next as far as what they want us to buy and get rewarded for in-game, but where I see it as them trying to be sure as many people take advantage of security as possible, and knowing this will be a good incentive for just that, I can't really be terribly upset about it in this very specific and particular case.. It's not like they had overwhelming orders of whatever it was now for the Tidal Talisman just because you could warp daily from Nashmau to Whitegate or anything.

But tbh every one should be buying it. Its security this is one way to be safe. Every one atm can have there accounts stolen. This will help so much. The Inv is just a perk. Yes it should be in game for free. But it is not.
They might of done it as they know there are to many people out there thinking they will never get hit by a hack etc. So they gave you an incentive to go out and buy it. What in the long run will save them tons of man hours helping people get back accounts that would not of been stolen if they bought this token.
