I'm not emotionally connected to MamaB at all.. but what was wrong with the rest of the plot? Not a fan of Double Agent Sarah or how things were handled? MamaB's advice to keep 'distance' was rather stupid, I'll give you that. I mean, look at where it's gotten her. Twenty years of failing to take down Volkoff, gg. But still.. I actually liked the episode. It amps me up for Monday's episode where the creators are touting 'ten of the most epic minutes in Chuck ever'. Here's hoping it's awesome. D:

I'm not a fan of the double agent bit. She could have easily killed him and been done with the whole thing. They talk as if the organization can live without him, but when in fact the guy that was in jail, they lost almost all communication with everything and they turned to a "crawl" as "MamaB" put it. So why not just fucking end it there? Instead we're going to give him his information that he needs to reconnect with all of the baddies.

I was hoping Chuck's message to Sarah would have been something along the lines, "We need to stop, this isn't worth it." At least that's what I wanted to see. It's just when the side characters are more interesting than the main when things are going wrong.

Ah. Yeah, not many fans are liking MamaB's plot as it is, but I'm thinking since Volkoff already wired all of his info through, they can't just straight up shoot him in his office. That and I'm guessing they wouldn't make it out alive..which is Sarah's whole point; to save Chuck's mom.

My real problem lays with MamaB being.. meh. I mean yeah, technically she's Chuck's mother, but how long was she his actual mother? Ellie raised him for most of his life as it is. I guess it's for the whole 'blood thicker than water' angle? I dunno. I'm just not emotionally connected to her. Hell, I'd be more sad if Volkoff died than I would be if MamaB died. Yeah, Linda Hamilton's done a great job, but still. It's been a lot of contrived angst, ever since she walked into the first scene. From aiming a gun at Sarah, shooting Chuck, et all. Also, if Sarah accomplishes a mission in months, the same one that MamaB's been on for 20 years? Talk about terrible spy.

The phone call at the end of 4x12 was the contrived angst I mentioned. She could have easily hit accept, sent a text, saying she needed to go silent for a while, and be done with it.. but she had to let MamaB's shitty advice of 'distance' get to her on the decline.

Ah well, I have faith in the next episode. Any time I felt down about Chuck or an episode, the next one usually exceeded it greatly. 4x08 to 4x09 for example. 4x08 was just so stupid.. then 4x09 came along, and bam; awesome ep.

Once MamaB told her the network was pretty much done, she should have just walked away or killed him. I know she couldn't at the beginning because she didn't know that the network was pretty much not working anymore. But MamaB should have just killed him if she knew all that.

Yeah, <insert plot device for the extra angst/drama and to prolong the arc a bit more here> -- I totally agree. It's contrived, and stupid.. but hey. I enjoyed Timothy Dalton's performance immensely. Dude goes from funny, to absolutely crazy in a split second. The eyeball scene was just..so wrong.

Are you one of the big Chuck/Sarah fans who's anxious for the whole engagement hoopla? Or just irritated with random drama created out of no where? Some of the fans out there are absolutely nuts. Like "OMG if they don't get engaged i'm not watching anymore Q_Q".. so stupid.

Well, I know they're going to get together so I don't really care about that. It's the random emo angsty crap that they add in out of left field that kills me.

It's like in Bones. Booth and Brennan need to just get together.

I don't get hte hating, Chuck's always shined best in the side characters than in the main ones.

Chuck and Sarah got played out by S2. It's Casey/Morgan, Awesome, Buy More, and the guest star of the arc/episode that keeps me watching.

I don't think she knew about the double agent business til after the arrest, she seemed genuinely shocked when it happened. Don't get me wrong, I straight up called "BULLSHIT" when it happened, because they need to either get married or kill her off, none of this OH NOES OBSTACLES crap.

In fact, not that it would happen, but (other than no more Strahovski hotness) I would love to see her get killed, and have chuck just go full brutal intersect mode for a while, with awesome, casey, and morgan teaming up to bring him back from it. Obviously way too dark for what is a mostly lighthearted comedy show, but it would be damn interesting.

Yeah, Sarah said any means necessary, but she didn't know that Beckman set her up to really make it look like she'd turned.

I think I'd like to see that too. Like said, it was kinda played out by season two but it's such a huge plot device in the series I think they have a hard time NOT developing it. Seen too many shows turn out shitty because they keep trying to stretch out love interests, I hope they don't linger on Chuck/Sarah for too long.

When you say don't linger on Chuck/Sarah too long, what do you mean? Personally, I do think the show is Chuck/Sarah, and then other stuff like Ellie, Awesome, Morgan, the Buy Morons (to a lesser extent) and so on. What I'd like them to do is go ahead and get the proposal/engagement out of the way, and then go from there so we can have some fun. I was okay with Chuck and Sarah's relationship being put on the backburner in some cases, though.. like for a rough mission.

Completely agreed. Early int he season, when we had the bits about her unpacking, that episode felt like a repeat of S3's whole 'moving in' thing, but by the end.. it all paid off, because the ending to episode 4x02 was just so awesome. The other earlier bits of Season 4 weren't bad as they focused on different parts of their relationship. I guess it's just hard for them to be a 'normal couple' when they're both spies, and hell.. we don't know much about Sarah's backstory at all.

Yeah, that's a lot of people's problem with it right now. Hoping this 'epic ten minutes' for 4x13 that the powers that be are teasing.. are truly epic.

As a stand-alone episode, this was awesome. A shame we had to deal with a few fairly 'meh' episodes from S4 (Leftovers was..just ugh). Still though.. awesome, awesome episode.
