I saw this movie today, and having never read the comics and never watched the tv show, I thought it was really fucking awesome. I love that I don't have to go into these Marvel movies with super huge expectations, because it seems to ruin them for all of you. But, I thought it was so cool. The acting/sound/effects/story all seemed really great to me, sorry that the rest of you weren't able to watch it from a different perspective.

Plus -- the movie is there to make the big bucks, and while pleasing fans does have something (possibly alot) to do with it, making it for the masses is their primary goal I'd assume, so you can't really knock them for trying to do what a movie is MADE to do. You think that a movie is there for enjoyment, but the people making the movie are making them for the $$.

Though there are some who were actually aware of Wolverine's comic book past, professional reviewers and their own "different perspectives" tend to disagree with you, too.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the criticism as the "crying of fanboys." My own career is in journalism, and I've oft had to ignore my own familiarity with properties while writing as unbiased of a critique as possible. Of course, knowledge of the property involved can be beneficial at times, but I digress.

Plenty of movies with absolutely trashy writing -- "Armageddon," "Titanic," et cetera -- have made millions of dollars, pleasing the masses with their cliché scripts, sappy romanticism, and/or overblown action sequences. That doesn't suddenly make them "awesome," it makes them acceptable entertainment. And those cited examples are superior product compared to Wolverine.

It's perfectly fine that you enjoyed it, since it's not as if the movie were created to deliberately infuriate people, but apologizing for a "problem" that only applies to a small percentile of the viewers is over-simplifying things.

I agree that this movie was trash, even from a non-fan point of view. Shitty dialogue, characters that were in it for 30 seconds to justify being in the trailer, and a plot so weak and full of holes I can't come up with an analogy.
