Now that the word is out that Deadpool and Weapon XI are one and the same in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” — a significant, less mouthy departure from the comic books in more ways than one — it’s natural to wonder how a faithful “Deadpool” spin-off movie could ever occur. Luckily, Ryan Reynolds is dreaming up some ideas.

“I’m thinking musical — Rated ‘R’ musical,” Reynolds joked with MTV News. “It hasn’t been done. Deadpool singing, dancing… dancing girls…”

Even though he’s kidding, that idea isn’t too far off — in order to make a successful “Deadpool” movie, you have to break down the fourth wall, according to Reynolds.

“Is it a fractured narrative, does it take place in the present, future and past — I feel like that’s the way to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie,” Reynolds described. “You definitely have to break the fourth wall and you have to find a way to make that make sense, which is no small feat. So it would involve a really talented writer, an amazing visionary director and I think a great collaboration between everybody passionate about this character.”

That passion part of it is the key for Reynolds, said the actor. Unless the entire creative team is on board with making a very faithful adaptation of the character, Reynolds has no interest in pursuing a spin-off film.

“I’ve made no secret about my desire to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie, but if you’re going to do it, it would have to be 100% faithful to its origins,” explained the actor. “To stay as true to the source material as possible is the only way to do it, and I say that because there’s nothing more interesting than the source material for Deadpool. There’s no reason to deviate from that.”

Given his stance on staying true to the character, how does Reynolds feel about the changes made to Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”?

“They deviated [from Deadpool's origins] in a movie like ‘Wolverine‘ because the movie is called ‘Wolverine’ and they have to make concessions and adjustments — and I totally understand that,” said Reynolds. “But if I were going to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie, I would want to be pretty strict about keeping it real.”

Maybe when they reboot the X-Men trilogy of fail or consider doing Cable/X-Force movie they'll do him justice. As far as Origins goes, if they keep the first half and mulligan the rest and re-release it, we can call it even. On a side note, the opening credits have to be by far the best opening to a movie I've ever seen.

I actually ordered both of those the day after seeing Wolverine, for nostalgia if nothing else. The 90's cartoon was fking awesome.

And his teleporting, being controlled by a random pc etc who knows what else he has they didn't use. Ryan Reynolds was playin him perfectly in the beginning and then they shit on it.

I agree with this; I buckled and went to see the film and the first half wasn't that bad... the 2nd half made me rage.

I thought it was fun summer movie, but I think a lot of people were expecting something more.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (and to a lesser extent Iron Man, I guess) have raised the bar for what a comic book movie could be.

Wolverine, while not as iconic of a character as Batman could have a character as well developed, and stories as well told as what we get in the new Batman series. Instead, the movie for Wolverine is a great way to kill 90 minutes and eat popcorn and watch a dude fight a helicopter.

It's worth a good look, but don't expect it to be up to par with other super hero movies. Let me know what special ending comes up after the credits.

Marvel is banking on Wolverine hard core!

We reported earlier that Hugh Jackman's mega hit is already green-lighted for a sequel. Now, the spin-off of the X-Men series is getting its own spin-off.

Will the madness ever end?

The new flick will follow Ryan Reynolds' character, Wade Wilson, who is later transformed into Deadpool, the mutant assassin.

The Deadpool spin-off film will be “a complete exploration of this unique character — his origins, his emergence as the Merc with the Mouth.”

Hardcore fans should be happy, as most fans have indicated that Reynold's character was the best supporting character of the film.

Will U go see yet another X-Men spin off?

Truthfully, though, I do agree on the subject of Gambit. He was pointless. Should not have been in the movie at all. His only purpose was to give Wolverine a little bit of information, but they could've just had Blob spill the beans clearly, and bam. Done. Would've freed up screen time to flesh out the main character more, if not others.

I'd have to say, however, that Hugh Jackman is as brilliant of a Wolverine as there could be. He elevated the mediocre script as much as possible. Despite the painfully generic writing, he played the part, and he played it well. Even the parts without words, such as him running away from the Weapon X facility and cutting up the bathroom, were fabulous.

Sabretooth's hopping around like a Goddamn frog looked fake as hell and was stupid.

He wasn't so bad. I felt like he only had one expression (perpetual snarl) throughout almost the entire movie, despite there being some scenes where he didn't. Definitely too two-dimensional for my tastes, though. It works in comic books, I suppose, and one could thus say that this was an "accurate transition" (insulting as that is to the sheer wealth of storylines that more depth could've been pulled from), but he had hardly anything to him.

It's pretty indicative of the movie overall: too little trying to be too much too fast.

Not a terribly shitty movie, though. It definitely had its moments, and I don't regret seeing it. Second X-Men movie still the best, though.

Movies are still enjoyable as mindless entertainment, but the quality nosedived after he left for Superman.
