sorry to hear you had a bad day, hope you find a new job soon ^^
You don't quit a job when you're making 70k. Idiot.
The job market for retail is pretty horrible however, if all else fails...stay focused at school since I remember you mentioning that. Since everyone knows how bad we are in today's economy, too many people make the mistake of choosing a major that isn't in enough DEMAND.
You may like it, and yes they all tell you to do whatever it is you like but you have to think real sometimes and wonder if there's actually enough job opportunities for it after your graduate. Even fresh law student grads from ivy league schools aren't finding jobs these days, only field that's still running smoothly is in healthcare.
Good luck, and dropping 70k a year job was pretty foolish, if that was just something temporary to hold you back from doing bigger and better things in which case I would have loved to be making 70k a year from a job I had while i was still in school.
70k, as a manager for Sam's Club? I find that hard to believe unless you're like...adding in your benefits, bonus, etc, before taxes and all that. W-2 can't be much more than 50.
So...you got pissed because your boss delegates shit for you to do? You missed a little cake and ice cream? lol. this has to be the most retarded thing ive read in awhile, but honetsly, i dont' belive half of it.
You know, I find post like this quite funny. Its almost like you didn't read the full post or not get the point at all? Where did I brag? I was bitching at people for no reason earlier on in the day and I had to vent because I was fucking sick and pissed. Then I continue to call my move stupid but I'm bragging. Yeah, lying on the internet to a bunch of people I don't know is how I best get my rocks off.
Yup, those two hours to myself a day is really fucking up my life. My mom isn't fixing a thing. I can't get a good position at Pfizer because I don't have the experience in that field. For the time I'd be better off going down the road and getting a management position at fast food until I can move onto something better.This. 1,000x this. Seems like you should spend less time online and more time trying to fix things on your own. Good thing your mom is there to possibly save your ass.
Anyway, thanks for those that messaged me or gave support. Helped me cool down yesterday.
Excellent reading comprehension there buddy. You'll get a top job for it. Never in my post did I allude that your spending time online was the cause of your situation.
It's even better if said manager is gay. Adds a whole new level of spice.
And I can't say I feel bad for the OP. If I had a 70k/yr job I'd hold on to that shit good and tight, as that's more than I expect to make for a good while. Why let an obnoxious manager get to you that much? Not worth dropping a damn good payrate in this economy.
Although your story makes you sound slightly like Milton from Office Space.
And I said no salt, NO salt on the margarita, but it had salt on it, big grains of salt, floating in the glass...
Leaving a job that pays more than a livable salary in this economy?
And bitching and venting about it on a forum?
Sounds like you have more than just pain problems that need medication...
EDIT: Mistaken post
Burn it down.
So my job gives no PTO to me, says I don't get holiday pay because I don't work more than 32 hours, and overall is horribly managed.
Thinking of just quitting today and going back to selling appliances. At least I was allowed to talk to people and get holiday pay.
You took the worst way of getting out. You should have either talked to someone above your boss about his performance, stating its causing you to consider leaving the company, or just totally start sucking at your job and let them lay you off so you get a severance package.
Quitting in a rage is always the worst way to go. You not only lose your job and get nothing, but you lose the recommendations and references you need to land another one.
I wish you luck because you're going to need it. I can't add anything more thats already been said (no references, shittiest economy in decades, no unemployment to name a few). I think the best suggestion was to go back pretending it was an April Fool's joke. I know crappy jobs suck and you shouldn't have to put up with it but times are different. There are people with MBA's applying to be secretaries because there are NO jobs anywhere. For someone in debt and need of constant medication, it's going to be difficult to get by with little or no salary. I highly doubt you'll find anything paying half of what you were getting.
Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had seventy thousand dollars?
Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had seventy thousand dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.
Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Peter Gibbons: Good point.
Lawrence: Well, what about you now? what would you do?
Peter Gibbons: Besides two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Well, yeah.
Peter Gibbons: Nothing.
Lawrence: Nothing, huh?
Peter Gibbons: I would relax... I would sit on my ass all day... I would do nothing.
Lawrence: Well, you don't need seventy thousand dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my cousin: he's broke, don't do shit.
Not to mention, MBAs are dime-a-dozen now days anyway.
My point is still valid. People who paid $100k+ to further their education are desperately looking for any paying job. Extremely dumb/shortsighted move to quit a job that pays $74k.
