Aye leave the guy alone (unlike that retarded NIN with Kikoku and that ridiculous Mirke... wtf was up with that)
It amazes me how many people don't even think about idle sets and have this feeling of "OMG I MUST IDLE IN MY BLOW SHIT UP HARD GEAR"
Exactly this, why would you gear yourself up to something that you obviously aren't doing at the time. Every time a relic/mythic is posted some people feel the need to look at their gear and critique it without really thinking about the fact that they don't need Nuking/Melee/WS pieces to idle in an area where they aren't about to attack something. I almost feel that relic/mythic screenshots should be taken naked, so it takes the focus off of the gear and puts more focus on the weapon itself.
i got labeled a gimp bc i walk around in my idle / towngear macro.. people werent to fond of the jse sam body.. and since i have amano they think im tping / destroying shit in my jse body... i mean it has more STP then that LOLASKAR shit u see all these nq sams running around in and they dont have a relic.. but bleh..
The idea that people wouldn't even consider a mage having an "idle" set never entered my head. I guess I just took it for granted that everyone did stuff like that, or at the very least, knew of such gear-sets and could recognise one.
I have an idle set on my melee jobs, after being a mage for so long with one, I didn't see why my melee jobs couldn't do the same. Granted it's just a regen set, with stuff like Jelly Ring and Hermes's Sandals thrown in for WAR and MNK. But it's a big help when I'm not engaged and just standing around, maybe getting hit by a random AoE WS/Spell(Swap out Jelly Ring for Spells XD).
He did a post regarding this and the Blm mythic a while back. Pretty much, HQ Staves > Laevateinn and Tupsimati.
Kanican - Laevateinn and Tupsimati
I think it was pretty much common knowledge after Djore came out that HQ staves pretty much outperform staves with MAB on it because once you hit a specific amount of total MAB (roughly 30-40 MAB before Mythic or Dorje), HQ staves start to pull away. SCH/RDM with only moldy and novio will favor Tuppsimati in terms of damage but the more MAB that is added in gear, the more it will begin to favor HQ staves. As said before Ala already knew this and it was more of a status symbol because he/she already has sch maxed out in gear according to the earlier poster. It's more about that -20 Enmity mod though because it allows for strong nukes to have less enmity, and if Ala has Equanimity merits, then they can perform a nuke with a lot less enmity.
Can SCH not wear cheviot/umbra cape?
edit: Grats though!
Unless there is MACC bonus on Tupsumati, by switching off Elemental Staves, you not only lose a slight amount of damage, but the +30 MACC as well (this value is debated around 20 to 30, but let's go with 30 here). So you may miss out on quite a bit from this, too. That's anywhere from -15% accuracy to -30% accuracy unless you're capped at 95% land rate (which for SCH is already questionable on anything outside merit targets).
As far as Enmity, the -50 enmity nuke build is pretty strong; however, it is already quite easy to get to -50 enmity without giving up that much damage (since you're using a lot of Mahatma). There is no doubt that using Tupsumati will free up some slots for damage gear instead of enmity down gear, but then you have to remember the gain in damage in the enmity down set also comes with that ~30 MACC loss.
There could be hidden effects on this or something else. At the very least, it's a great status symbol though, so congrats to the person who completed it still.
Also, isn't it obvious from the screenshot that the SCH is wearing standard idle gear? The only 'stand-out' piece of equipment there is the backpiece (not Umbra/Chev), but it's almost surely Shadow Mantle.
