unfortunately they aren't reliable to get. if you have them already, its great yes, but the time taken simply hoping to get the correct augment to random for it is well beyond its worth.
because of this i prefer to keep within the realm of reliably obtainable equipment when it comes to making 'best of' lists, of which tenshodo coffer augment items and FoV augments don't fall in the realm of. fay weapons and ANNM augs are more predictable but they are still exception to norm pieces because the augment system simply isn't reliable.
in the time it takes me to get a Nirvana, i may still not be able to get the cape i want if i do it everyday - and that is bullshit.
...
ah sigh..
no english Nirvana's yet. I wonder if the JPs even do testing.
going for summoner based stats, there's 3 capes, at least. going for pure MP, there's at least 5 capes with more mp than summoners, and another 10 with situational uses that will outshine it. it is also arguably easier to get the mkd capes than a summoner's although they have been available for a much shorter time.
summoner's cape is just a shit piece, and the only reason it is there is because SE had to balance out the awesome that is the rest of the set.
Does that mean he actually uses that gear? <_<a
Y'all do realize idling in SMN cape makes sense. Might as well idle in the extra HP on a such low HP job.
Hint: Idling in SMN skill or Pet: does nothing.
Of course my concern is that none of the other crap is really fantastic idle gear, so I don't WTF they are going for. Not even pretty town gear....
tricen:
tors & is top for nashira legs in our limbus ls, i think.
There's really no big difference in what cape you idle in for SMN. Idling in MP gear is perfectly fine and idling in pet: stats doesn't really do much either. Personally, I'd wear smn cape or intensifying cape if I didn't have astute.
if you're like me and play on both PS3 and PC, and use convention in-game macros, its both efficient and more convenient to have to macro-swap less things at a time, which is also why I see myself full-timing astute cape.
The SMN magic skill is useful for BPs, ele siphons and also elemental spirits (which you kinda have to idle in), so its the best choice to go with.
if I wanted to use a Smn cape on SMN i'd probably just use Intensifying cape instead, cos its the same HP/MP and you can equip it like *edited* 10 levels earlier and use it on other jobs. seriously lol at the 1def and 1enmity difference. I think thats the real problem with summoner's cape.
it would just be better to idle in gigants, or chevoit/umbra (in alot of physical damage instances) to buffer against damage or errant/mahatma or one or two others for enmity down.
there's also stuff like poisontasters, blue +1, lieutenants, invigorating, and another 2-3 acp/mkd augmented capes. smn cape is, at best, a compromise for 3 medium stats, compaired to 3 other capes that all have clearly superior uses in those instances, ignoring real smn stats.
I have no problem with idle in Gigant or Chevoit.
Point is to idle in a augment cape because of the augment is fucking retarded.
What's the point in idling in Gigant Mantle when you're switching to Astute for your BPs anyway? Are you really curing yourself back to full HP after each BP? Because if you're not, that extra max HP is pretty much going to waste. It's not like it matters anyway - idling in MP gear doesn't make any difference once you've used up the extra MP it's granting you, and SMN is not a job that should be getting hit a lot in most situations which means Umbra isn't that hot either.
Honestly, if I actually cared enough about SMN to be anal about gear choices, I'd idle in Hexerei Cape.
Idle in HP+, less dangerous to stay in yellow for JSE ring. Losing the HP when you switch into BP gear won't matter when you're not at full to begin with.
Having more HP doesn't make Sublimation charge any faster. Basically all it does is allow you to spend a little more time charging and a little less waiting for the cooldown. That's a pretty situational reason for idling in max HP considering you'll usually have Refresh anyway.
Did the SCH ever even test MAB from aftermath, or duration of aftermath?
