when atonement peaks at 525 and the fight is that short (ultima has low HP) its not really unusual. i also used chivalry with 200+TP and messed up one with ultimas shield up because i wasnt paying attention from what i remember.

about tiamat, 375 peaks again because of magic dmg-% and yea i switched to fire resist, weapons including. could've skipped a couple cures, slowed down on hate (less terrors on me, less utsu castings) and used aegis/excal in air while taking more dmg & getting SAM in serious trouble.. to get off wayyy more atonements. its just not always that smart when an amano SAM (alive) can DD better with your support + main-tank role in that situation

In some of those parses, it's easy to forget about things as simple as the PLD being there from claim to kill. When the RNG arrives and the mob is at 45~65% for example... but the PLD was there the whole time, it skews things in favor of the PLD (the Khim where you did something like 40% is what this is in direct reference to).

And as you said before, Ultima is not a melee friendly fight. It's even rough on Ranger who will inevitably pull hate. Excal has an edge here, of course.

You also pretend that Tenebrous Mist only hits Paladins, and claim that about "half of their damage comes from Atonement" when you specifically stated earlier that it's a "damage over time thing."

PLD's damage is of a more damage-over-time sort rather than big numbers up front.

Also, regarding Tiamat, Arri doesn't get the chance to atonement very much because the kills are generally quick, which doesn't leave him much time to fire off WS's.

The SMN clearly isn't in any particular gear set in that screenshot, at least I hope not. Every item he's wearing potentially has a purpose - the earrings would be used for max MP (and hMP in the case of the Antivenom), the neck could be a Bull Necklace for show or an augmented Beak Necklace, the belt is obviously max MP, the pants are probably Yigit (hMP and aesthetics) and everything else has obvious functions.

Possibly an aesthetic desire- since this was snapped versus set up, if you look at the char model standing at the AH I have to say I like the overall visual scheme


NQ beak necklace (unless there is another piece with that model I'm unaware of) is pretty lulz though.

both NQ beak necklace and the earring (sapphire earring?) have augmented versions you can get from ACP/MKD. beak necklace can get +5 atk, but i'm assuming/hoping that if he's doing a merit pact, he's using smn torque. the earring can get some macc, +2, but i'd still use a smn earring over it. so while he's not nearly as gimp as it looks first glance, he's still wearing some borderline meh gear.

Summoning Earring only takes up 1 spot. He could very well use both.

more so you can still get to 160 without swapping out one's weapon\shield. On drk I believe I'm at 157 when timmy's in the air. I just full time cerb bow through the entire fight so i don't lose tp when he flies.

Still, with Shell V, a half-decent MDB set and Aegis you're going to get hit for like 80 damage. Why go for fire resist when you can get extra hate from curing yourself anyway? Not to mention you get to keep your TP, and it takes up less inventory space.

That's what I was wondering. I'd rather have Tia hit me for ~4 in my normal resist gear and use my cure4 swap..
