Completed Relic/Mythic weapons list

Aegis is a must for 2 mobs in the game, Excal is a convenience boost for mobs that are already easily killed. Going to say that logically only Gjallarhorns should be upgraded.

I dont think anyone thinks that Aegis is a must have, its just not useless, same goes to Excal its not a must but you dont NEED it.

Aegis isn't a must have for any mob in this game. Excal actually helps you kill things faster, Aegis doesn't in any way.

There is a huge difference between a 160m shield that does what 500k worth of coral +1 does and a free 400 damage 8% of the time.

And until AV is killed I will not accept that Aegis is a must have for it as one of the 2 mobs in the game because thusfar throwing 500 Aegis at AV doesn't do shit.

And...? I said it isn't a must have item to do something in the game, and yes that applies to every relic there isn't much you can do in this game that you cant do without a relic. (im not sure why you bring up armor because no where have i said relics don't help ofc gear helps your job do its roll).


And Sath thats my point, sure Aegis isn't a must have (AV can not be included in anything until it is being killed by the majority of players) but it is not useless it has its perks the same as Excal.

Aegis gives you 250 damage every few minutes. A good haste build Excal gives you 1200 damage a minute with marches / haste (i dont have excal, if i fudged the numbers correct me)

Point is, besides lulzy bash and a higher DEF rating aegis doesn't add anything to PLD that you can't buy off the AH for 155,000,000g less. Excal gives PLD the ability to enhance a linkshells killspeed and gives a large enhancement to lowman kills (less reliability on BLM)

If you have nothing left to do for PLD, go for aegis. Aegis before excal in this day and age is 100% silly in my opinion and should be looked down upon. This isn't 2006. Macros are god now, not fulltiming Aegis and Mfeet.

An Aegis just turns a good PLD into a great PLD, and a shitty PLD into a lucky PLD. PLD don't need an Aegis to be a good tank, or a even a great tank at that.

Edit: Probably could have reworded that to sound cooler, but after 7 cups of 10 penny ale. I just don't care.

I know its just semantics, but I'm more inclined to believe that it turns sloppy paladins into bearable ones, and simply saves some inventory space for ones that are already excellent.

I didn't have any issue with PW without aegis until Gurfurlur did headsnatch -> hundred fists before anyone reacted. I can tell you though Aegis would not have saved me on that.

Depends on how you do PW to judge it's worth, but for AV it's pretty essential for a serious attempt.

Serious attempts that can't possibly end in wins aren't so serious, IMO. His wind-based attacks can be survived without an Aegis, Meteor can't be survived for prolonged periods of time regardless of what you're wearing.
