my question is, why? You can't get the effects from Vajra if you're using it as an offhand right? So why even bother? pure status symbol? I'd much rather spend the time/effort elsewhere.

How can you have an apoc and not have toreadors <_<; or dusk gloves+....shit just doesnt make sense to me lol. Why spend so much money on apoc and then neglect the important things(i mean toreadors in this case cause fuck dusk gloves+1 synth ; ; ). If you can get an apoc/amano/any sort of melee relic, im expecting you to have gear you would use on other jobs.

Gonna have to disagree with this. I'm not sure why everyone thinks that a relic player needs to have perfect gear elsewhere. A Toreador/Sniper+1 is only worth grabbing before a relic if you don't plan to get a relic. The damage gain per gil you are paying on said items is almost universally lower than what you gain on a relic. And that's assuming you can even still make use of 2 more accuracy on a ring after getting 20 accuracy on a relic.

If you're paying 3mil for 2 accuracy, realize a 2h relic has 20 accuracy, which already covers 30mil of the pricetag on the relic, before discussing the weaponskill, aftermath, 2.5x proc, higher base damage, and the fact you're probably accuracy capped before having a Toreadors.

A relic player should have intelligent/proper gear choices elsewhere, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking at a damage/cost ratio and getting a relic before a shitty HQ accuracy ring.

I agree with Failure. Plenty of people also sacrifice a lot of their expensive shit to fund their relics. i.e, I've known a few people who've sold their kclub or speed belt to be able to finish off their stage 5.

Selling something superfluous like a KC is, IMO, respectable for funding a relic. Selling a piece of gear you have and actually need is retarded.
