Higher total delay means less swings with kikoku over the same amount of time. It's not so much about Perdu damage vs. Yoshi damage but as decreasing the numbers of swings with Kikoku, both normal and 3x damage swings. Someone can give you the exact #s and I may be wrong but I'm 90% certain perdu is better.

The delay difference is 37 total and 5 ACC. I'm sure the 10 ATT comes in somewhere but w/e.

So basically you would trade off a 25% damage increase in ur off hand for the few extra swings with perdu just for the chance at the 3x proc? This is like saying u should offhand sirroco kukri instead of blau while using mandau because u want to get more triple proc's on mandau which is well downright retarded.

You should be offhanding X's knife with mandau anyways for that little bit extra damage on SA with mandau anyways, shouldn't you? I'm not THF but that was my understanding.

You're also forgetting that the lower combined delay increases WS frequency as well as triple procs. For a job that's pretty much 55/45 DPS/WS, maybe 60/40 depending on the mob, putting a heavy emphasis on the offhand hit over more mini-rampages (3hit crit WS 30% STR 30% DEX) is silly.

Again, somebody can do the math out and I'm sure it'll be extremely close - but K/P is the best combo in 99.9% of situations except MAYBE where spending another 120mil will get you < .5% increase, which I'm not even ready to admit it will yet.

Not necessarily, although for NIN it might be the case. There are examples of lowering delay resulting in slower TP gain.

For maff sake, average WS with Kikoku in meripo, erring on the low side for differences in TP/food/etc should be 750-800.

Edit: For shin, it's been a long time since I was playing around with it, lemme put in my 2 main TP sets into FFXI calc and I'll give you my swings to 100.

Edit 2: Sushi set - 1.8 second delay 5.0 TP per hit (20 To 100, this is what I thought)
Pizza set - 2.0 second delay 5.3 TP per hit (19 to 100)

With Yoshimitsu under the same gear it would be:
Sushi set - 2.0 second delay 5.0 TP per hit - 20 to 100
Pizza set - 2.1 second delay 5.4 TP per hit - 19 to 100

Some people actually think X's is a bad knife, and that you should SA/TA in haste gear.

I'm inclined to say that X/Blau and Mandau/X are still the reigning champs(something in the back of my mind is telling me that Sirc may have been found to be better..? Iono), but that really has nothing to do with doing solo SA and TA in equipment that will keep your attack speed high.

How does Mercy Stroke compare to Evisceration if X's knife is in the offhand? It's +10% crit damage on a 5-hit crit WS so... (not saying Mercry stroke isn't godly, it fucking is. Just wondering how the two compare)

Also from a DPS standpoint, how is K/Y not better? The super-crit is nice but it's been approximated to be a 5% proc rate IIRC. you're trading 1 extra DPS for some accuracy and attack.

I don't know the math behind this, but i'm sure a lot of Mandau/X knife owners say that Mandau is 10x better after they got X knife. I remember LW saying something like that in the rate your relic thread.
