Xanthe's logic is flawed that he's refusing to see the real picture.

Him sponsoring years for a relic =

1) Sponsor city runs twice a week
2) Friend's donation
3) Cheap currencies via friends

= all at your friends' expenses

1) You gain, people entering dynamis are helping you out
2) You gain, friends are practically giving you money
3) same as above

That's the same as, Heyyyyyy GUYS Kill tiamat for me, I'll sell the gaiters to fund my relic. My gain, you guys are just helping me out.

Not that it's wrong or anything, because when I did my relics, LS did pump in $$$ to help me finish faster (ie i'm gaining out of other's expenses), which is literally same as what Xanthe is doing.

Xanthe is siphoning gils through what he calls "friends" throughout 3-4 years doesn't make it different from siphoning gils at one whole go from LS.

I 100% agree with FailureMidgard and Valisk on this one.

for TLDR version:-

Only 2 ways of obtaining relic.
1) You craft/ENM or whatever, buying all your currencies without any help which imo YOUR RELIC
2) At the expense of others/LS/etc...either by lump sum gils transfer from LS, or slowly siphoning off money from friends over YEARS and YEARS....SAME THING. Not your relic, it's part yours, and part LS/whatever.

Nothing wrong with either, but just saying, as majority of relics fall into the 2nd category, and that's what Xanthe's relic is.

End result is the same...him taking a group to dynamis to farm him currencies is the same as me taking a group to tiamat and sell gaiters for currencies.

It's a transfer of friends/other expenses to personal gain.

His way is just much slower, because of the expenses are being spread throughout the years of siphoning.

Edit: Quit trying to differentiate about how "hard" and how many years you take to complete your relic, when it's actually indifferent from others as it's just a slower version of transfer of wealth. Less QQ and more relic pics!

Wop is right. No one gets a relic without someone spending the money for them. You can either do it yourself or put the burden on your friends, and when it's put that way it should be pretty freaking obvious what the more noble way to go is.

trust me, there are people that go this route, I paid JP for my first two relic's fragment.

Not everyone goes for a relic weapon, as long as they can lot their jobs relic, I'm sure they really dont care who is getting the currency.

I've been in point based endgame shells, not shells where everything is sold/split so really, they cant bitch when someone gets gaiters if that person has more points then them.

Only it's not all from sponsorship. I only sponsor two cities per month. The rest comes from donations and discount purchases. Spending 150M+ on a relic is nothing to be proud of. Having friends and connections, and being to complete the same task for much less on the other hand is.

In the end, it doesn't matter how you get it. You can be proud of having "friends and connections", and I'll be proud that I never once "used" my friends to get free currency. If I went in with 6 people to farm Dyna-Sandy, I'd make everyone pay an equal amount of the glass, and I'd sure as hell give them 1/6th the currency haul too. Way back in the day when I got my Hagun, I took the first one from the BC as a loan basically, and I didn't take a split of the couple drops after until all of us had received the same value from the ENM.

I'm glad you're proud that you ended up with 150m worth of gear while your friends ended up with dogshit. Besides, sponsoring 2 runs per month is still a lot of free gil. You pay 500k and walk away with what...5mil? So let's see, over 2 years, making 9mil a month, neat, that should be about 200mil? How did this take you 2 years again?

Either way, you made 150mil worth of currency. I don't see how you should be more proud of your method at all. I'd be far more proud of a relic I did myself, than one that I got from my friends or linkshell.

Yeah I'm not getting the first unlocked one I've already known that since that JP on Seraph was spotted back in August.

And I'm fine with that. I'm more interested in getting info/tips on the BCNM fight so I don't lose the damn ZNM trophies, in particular as to whether or not I have to get TP for taunts by shooting only for the TP or if I can get away with using joy toy.

I've read up on the fight itself and this is quoted from wiki: Defeat Balrahn by reaching Level 3 Aftermath. The player must wield their Mythic Weapon during the fight in order to achieve this.

I'd like to assume that ranged weapons are the exception for getting TP with the locked Mythic. So let me know how the fight goes Azn! And grats! I'm gettin there!

Which again, goes back to my original post...if a shell pays for your relic, you can claim you spent less than 1mil on your relic, woohoo.

I'm all for a shell helping out a dedicated member with a relic. Yes, you earned it, nobody is trying to say otherwise. We're just saying that the currency has a value, no matter how you earn it, and you can't claim you did a good job BECAUSE you didn't spend gil on it. You either spent your friend's gil (them selling it cheap/donating) or your linkshell's gil (buying currency for you), or just denied your linkshell and friends other gear (because ANYTHING THAT ISN'T R/E IS SELLABLE -EASILY- AND COULD BE USED TO BUY GEAR FOR OTHERS).

I've said this shit in other threads plenty. It's stupid to say just because you got a drop, it's suddenly a free and value-less item. If you're taking linkshell currency, realize you are denying other members whatever it is the shell could do with money. Be that buying gaiters, novios, black tathlums, etc, etc.



Oh ya, and I should add that my relic will not be one I funded fully by myself! But, I'd still be far more proud of it if I had been able to. LS help/etc.

I don't think its as clear cut as wopa is laying it out. In both of his "ways to get relics" assuming that your ls at the very least gets you fragment and paper, you're still going to in some way get assistance from others, for free. Unless you buy the frag/paper but even then your friends are still going to be there, and i think its more likely they will be helping you out, be it with helping you find currency deals or selling it to you at a discount, than not. Nobody pays for 100% of their relic at the full currency values, at least not anyone who has friends and isn't a total loser.

I think there are varying degrees in which you can fund your relic by both sponsoring your ls runs and buying the currency yourself, and they don't need to take years. I think its fine if you put in more than what your LS puts in and that you can show them you are taking the initiative to further your progress on your own rather than just relying on sponsorship currency or inner-shell deals. Wopa, you leave little room for these varying degrees. I don't think somone who is soley relying on sponsorship currency is the same as someone who sponsors but also purchases more than they are provided with from said sponsorship.
