How are you going to be realistic inside of a game you dont/cant even play any more?

Now is it just me or does the only ammo suitable for that gun appear to be tarutaru? Could fit a few in there (albeit not the fat ones... cough you-know-who).

    Grats!

As Kaeko said, if you can really get that shit to 800 damage per QD, that shit would indeed be scary.

I remember having a simialr discussion about Dynamis sponsorship a while ago, and listening to people-who-got-sponsored-relics argue up and down about how it's perfectly reasonable.

I've believed from the beginning that sponsored Dynamis is incredibly corrupt, and I'm not sure how the practice became accepted in the first place.

Big grats on the gun . Nice to hear it's already turning out to be a solid COR weapon~

I'm very curious if the potency to debuffs in enhanced too. There are plenty of ways to test but I thought of two which should be sufficient to see if further testing is needed:

    1) Test Light Shot sleep duration~

    2) -Go outside a starter city such as bastok, and aggro a bee.
-Have someone /w at least ~85+ MND cast slow on it.
-Use a stopwatch and start from the beginning of one attack to the beginning of the 11th attack. 10 Attack rounds will occur during this period, so dividing the time on the stopwatch by 10 should give you a fairly accurate base.

    Repeat /w Mythic QD on.

    Repeat /w a normal gun's QD on.

If I recall the numbers right, you should see ~7.5 seconds with capped slow on. ~8.1 seconds /w capped slow + normal Earth Shot. ~8.5 seconds if Death Penalty gives another +5%.

This test seems precise enough to see if there's any noticable enhanced potency, and it should only take about 15-20 minutes to run.

Well, initially the deal was basically that people got to go to Dynamis for free (didn't have to pay a fraction of glass) and they traded their right to lot currency for their right to lot AF. The leader (generally) fronted the money for the glass and got all the currency. So in exchange for organizing everything, making sure the LS didn't spend hours in Dynamis wiping, and getting his LSmates the prized Artifact Armor v2, the leader received currency.

Now Dynamis isn't hard to do (everyone has multiple 75s and we aren't all melees), we have strategies for it, and people either have all the AF2 they want or realize it's only a matter of time until they get it. . . So it's much more apparent how bad a deal sponsored Dynamis has always been.

There was (and still is?) a shell on Garuda that both makes every member who enters pay their fraction of the glass *and* gives sponsorship of the run to an LS member for free. There are, obviously, members who have been attending runs for years and have only their AF2 and empty pockets to show for it, while multiple members have quit or server transferred with stage 3/4s. I did about two runs with them years ago before the feeling of getting screwed in the ass got to me and I left. Not anything against them. They have some of the nicest and most considerate players on the server. It's just that that is a horrible system for distributing Dynamis currency.

A lot of people could care less if they're being "exploited" for currency so long as they can show up, get AF2, and expend very little thought or gil along the way.

The only sunk costs are time, consumables, and possibly a bit of easily regained XP. They don't have to think much, know much, or spend much, and for many that's a good thing.

There are plenty of folks willing to expend the time and effort to organize, plan, and understand the intricacies of the zones. They tend not to have a lot of difficulty recruiting enough of the lazy sorts who would consider currency a fair trade for that expertise.

Right, wrong, or indifferent it's purely a matter of value to all parties involved. The lazy would consider the discount currency to the leader a fair trade for not asking any noteworthy amount of competency or knowledge. The leader would consider the discount currency a fair trade for developing that competency and knowledge so that the lazy don't have to.

Best way, as with most things in FFXI, is sell/split, imo. Let each attendee choose whether or not to help split the cost of the glass, and if they do, they get an equal share of the gains or losses from that run. If people want to come for "free" to get AF2, that's their choice, if they are willing to take a very small risk in exchange for a very likely reward, that's also their choice. Optionally offer a discount on currency to any LS member who wishes to buy (if the entire LS agrees such a discount is fair or warranted), but don't restrict anyone from purchasing currency if they so choose. First come, first serve.

Hydra was piss easy and I let it hit me once and crit'd me for 60 dmg, otherwise it's so slow you can keep shadows up. It took me 2 ws's to make it depop and spawn balrahn, I walked up to zahak (hydra) and it moved a bit up to me so when balrahn spawn he didn't aggro.

Balrahn himself usually just ranges you but he'll keep moving forward after shots so eventually he will get within melee range and hit you. He's unarmed but it looks like his fists only hit once. The dmg on his ranged and fists are pretty much 40-50 dmg, slug for 200ish and leaden salute for 100ish, he did detonator too but I forgot how much. The only issue I had with the fight and where I nearly lost was because he didn't trigger the damn mythic msg till about 80 ish % so I tried a buncha shit before 80% like only ranged attcking and getting tp etc causing me to take some hits. It's also worth noting his ranged attacks are about 4-5 seconds apart so if you stay in range to melee you'll take a decent amount of dmg (I have like lol1000 taru hp). I ended up doing what kir did as well, which is doing 200 tp first then 300 then waiting for 300 to wear off to do 100 and finishing the fight. So in case it wasn't clear, you can tp in joy etc and ws balarahn for msg. I used SAM and DNC roll with periskos and orochi neck for hp regen, overall was pretty easy till I decided to take an ass load of dmg at the start by trying different shit. He does attack fairly fast but if you need a break just run outta his melee range and he'll just shoot you for like 40-50 dmg.
Few questions I have for you about the fight:

    1) Were you able to TP with the M. Kris I see you offhanded and still receive the taunt?

    2) I thought you had to WS in succession i.e 100% -> 200% -> 300%?

    3) How long after you got the 300% AM did you have to wait for it to wear off to do the 100% one?

I had planned on the same 2 rolls as well, SAM & DNC, and was still unsure which subjob to go as, but if TP from your offhand weapon counts towards him taunting then /NIN does seem like the best option.

It's pretty late so I didn't get to do much tests but the most important one is just the enhance QD. Butt naked, shark gun silver bullet did 218 ice shot on QQ rock hound and
You mean Steel Bullet right? Corsair can't use Silver Bullets.

Nah, just have to execute a WS at the 3 different phases. Doesn't matter the order. Kirschy had to do it 200 > 300 > 100 also because he didn't wait long enough after the taunt to do the 100 so he had to redo it.

At the beginning, relics used to be seen either as:

1)Irrealistic waste of time for those who were happy with their AF2 pieces, laughing at those who would pick currency instead. People who went to dynamis just for AFs were happier for a pair of BST legs than for a M.piece.

2)Gamebreaking items that could make a LS invincible (especially G.horn and Aegis), therefore a huge achievement for the LS.

    (1) is the reason people started to buy gil to fund relics by themselves, (2) is the reason greedly LS leaders started to make LS with the sole objective of obtaining their relic.

As I've said before, nothing is black and white, but when people usually criticize a player they don't like who has obtained his/her relic, 99% of the time they'll either say that he/she's a gilbuyer (1) or a greedy manipulator (2). Otherwise they will just say that it was a "deserved relic" no matter how it was obtained. The legitimacy of the means is different for everyone.

Ironically, the only "true" legit way to obtain a relic, which is "buy the currency with your own gil at their standard selling price", is usually the one that requires the upgrader to give something up if he/she really wants to finish that relic. What happens when you see a relic wielder with top notch rare-ex gear but no HQ buyable items? That's right, he/she becomes a running joke. No wonder a lot people who want both the good gear and relic/mythic pick one of those two options then.
