Melee Whm is actually a lot better than is sounds.

Melee WHM is just like melee BLU except they have different sets of spells; if a BLU can melee for most events I don't see why WHM can't.
True WHM is severely lacking in accuracy compared to BLU, but has overall better weapon skills (Hexa Strike, Mystic Boon), can use KC, and has overall more usefulness.
On the other hand BLU doesn't need the same highly specialized and expensive gear to get decent results in that departement, though.

A relic WHM with half a brain isn't going to melee when he/she isn't supposed to and stop casting, so no point arguing about that.

I had a non-Mjollnir WHM is my meripo a while back, and I honestly would have preferred MeleeWHM over RDM any day. Of course he was very good at it, probably had tons of practice, but it made it that much better. Came out to like, 24k/Hr with mix/match setup.

Was something oddball like THF DRG SAM WAR WHM BRD. It was ridiculous. The WHM had full TP sets and kept up in damage, as well as holding haste cycle, cure bombing, status ailments, sleeping adds from pops when the BRd is far away, etc.

Takes alot of practice but if you find a WHM that can do this competently, entirely worth it over a RDM IMO.
