That is just a bit too bandwagon.

You can't really trash on Nirvana, though. Burtgang can be situational, sure, just like SMN as a whole. But either way they're both really amazing pieces if used right by the person wielding them. We can't judge gear based solely on HNM value.

My point is Burtgang comes in handy more than a Nirvana would. It is more useful than 1 tick perp and 20 MAB for magical based pacts.

This is mostly due to PLD being used more widely than SMN.

(And yes, I like my SMN and it is pretty decently geared, I just know my PLD has many more uses.)

I just would honestly find the -10%/enm/enm lost to be more useful to me as a player than the 1 tick perp and 20 mab. I think for most people they could say the same.

didn't someone equate the enmity loss to having an extra 70hp or something of the sort? so now you're looking at 3% pdt and 10enmity over a haute. it's not a bad weapon, it'd be decent if it didn't come at the expense of 400 damage or a 2nd swing.

Btw, do you have PLD 75, a Burt, an Excal, a Joytoy and have used them in every situation?

PLD was my first 75. I was a main tank for various HNMLS from the days of /war and hp builds to the modern day /nin and /rdm tanking. I tanked in about every situation possible. I've tanked in gimped up and pimped up gear.

What does that mean? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

There's plenty of people out there who will never touch PLD, yet know more about the job than most of the 75s out there. All you need is a good understanding of game mechanics.

Am I arguing about which sword is the best overall? No.

Burtgang is situationally the best tanking sword in ffxi. A fulltime PLD, who
wishes to perfect his or her tanking abilities in any or all situations can only
benefit from it.

While I agree, the two situations where I've really seen Burt shine are AV and PW, two things you couldn't use anything but PLD on really. And you can't excal PW either

EVERY time a burtgang is posted demosthenes replies like clockwork and it always turns into a retarded argument of nothing just because he likes to declare that a burtgang should basically not exist. It does have its uses and its a neat sword for those few uses it has.
