Man I hope that's not true! Anyone know exact %? I was told it's 25%, when I finish +2 I'll parse and let ya know I guess.

its 5%
Well than, I can't say from a math perspective wether caladbolg/redemption is better than apoc, I'll just have to parse it out.
You don't need a math perspective. Torcleaver blows Guillotine out of the water(never mind if you're making a case for using Catastrophe), and ODD aftermath destroys Apoc's chance for a lead in the TP damage department.
1 + 1 = Apocalypse is trash(for now).
I think with the 25% boost in dmg, cata comes pretti close to torcleaver in avg ws dmg. Add in that apocalypse can 5hit much easier and leave more atma choices open makes it win in the ws dept overall. Odd from emp more than makes up for that though.. so its an easy win for emp gsd.
I'd say Torcleaver still has a pretty hefty advantage over Catastrophe in WS properties, and while 5-hitting Apocalypse is pretty easy, 83 delay isn't insignificant for TP-gain.
WS damage and ODD makes tor SEEMS better...
but tbh 6-7 hit is zzzzzzzzzzzzz
i havent run any parse yet to determine which is better...my GS skill @34 to cap still ._.
6-hitting Caladbolg isn't very difficult, even without compromising optimal atma. ~19% decrease in delay in exchange for 20% lower WS frequency isn't really a game-changer.
Yea my point was just that you give up the 20% ws dmg and you still only get a 6hit vs apocs 5hit from gear and keeps the 20% ws dmg. Counting ws freq and dmg, I think it'll win in the ws dept by a little, but hopelessly outclassed in melee dmg due to odd. I think emp gsd is the better weapon though.
That was more in response to Arthars. I know you're more than capable of working this out for yourself. Him, not so much.
Not definitively. Like I said, the WS frequency advantage that Apocalypse has over Caladbolg should be damn near indistinguishable in practice, and Torc/Cata are similarly matched(which Torc being very slightly better). 25% proc rate on AF3 shouldn't be enough to tip the scales much, much less "put it back on top".
One of Ramuh's last relics ^^; 4th completed for our LS.

In case anyone cares, against a Lvnothing, a SAMercy Stroke from a lv90 Mandau is pretty much equal to a SARudra's Storm from a lv90 Twashtar, around 2400 +/- 50. +21str/+84dex for Rudra, +42str/+61dex w/ws neck/belt for Mercy. I'd work on my mercy set but I don't think it's worth using over Rudra at this point.
edit: I meant Rudra @ 100% tp
If you're using SA/TA there's no reason to gear for STR over DEX/AGI on Mercy. You would have gotten higher numbers with Mercy using the set you used for Rudra's, even if you weren't doing them on lvl 0 mobs (where fSTR is capped, lessening STR's impact).
Under the ideal conditions for STR (that is, uncapped fSTR) it's still less beneficial than DEX/AGI point for point when using SA/TA Mercy. Add in the fact that damage added from DEX/AGI is calculated outside the WSC penalty and it becomes even more significant.
I don't know how to math it out, but isn't having a 60% STR mod for Mercy Stroke beneficial to gear for STR?
Edit- Didn't refresh window, so didn't see Atroeis post
