Considering all the bashing of all the relics/mythics in this thread - are any of these still worth making, where you AREN'T gonna get the 3rd degree from people? Like Yoichi or Amano, despite having Masa?

lol
Mandau is still worth making I'm pretty sure, Spharai too.
Oh - that's right, I did forget Mandau was still worth making, and I guess Spharai because of the counter + outside abyssea. Does that make the other weapons just trophy relics/mythics for other jobs then? it's kind of a shame...
Yagrush. Kenkoken?
I would think that Masamune and Amanomurokumo are pretty close at 90. And if you're going to be using gekko for a given situation the Amano is going to win anyways.
Edit: Also Mjollnir is still the best for DD WHM! I think Ryuno is the best polearm in most situations, too.
Not accounting job usefulness:
Excalibur - probably still best outside abyssea for high def mob ( might be beaten by 2-4 sword ).
Yoichi - Probably best bow outside abyssea and an amazing toy for SAM with 2-4 GKT.
Spharai - best defensive weapon for MNK ( worth much more outside abyssea )
Apocalypse - Best DRK weapon for limited healing party
Annihilator - Imo best RNG weapon in game (overall)
Gjallahorn - obvious
Amano - for Gekko
Mandau - For inside abyssea, for outside I'm not sure if it can beat Twashtar especially considering situation when you wont always WS at 100TP.
Yagrush - obvious
Carnwenhan - obvious
Nirvana - obvious
Ryunohige - best DRG weapon
Terpsichore - I think best DNC weapon for everything beside damage (tho im not really sure how much damage would be added by having so many FM)
Tizona - outside abyssea it's probably situationally top BLU weapon.
Would Yoichi actually beat empy for rng outside abyssea? They did just get dead aim that is +40% crit damage I believe?
Math is a bit off I would say. Not considering storing TP before fights. Not considering 300 TP -> 100 TP -> 100 TP -> 100 TP -> etc -> 300 TP. Yes there is build up between 300tp phases, but with double marches, capped gear haste, and haste spell, it doesn't take long (with OAT active) to get back to 300 TP. The lvl 90 weapons also have extended duration over the initial lvl75 weapons (I don't remember how long it was, will have to ask Neo/Blittz). So the effect remains active for much longer, closing the gap.
I think people are missing the point though: It's very situational and these two people have the other situations covered . It is also far from "useless", which is an exaggeration. That really only leaves "they're taking 60k alex out of the market", in which case I have two responses:
1. They could, so who cares.
2. Which weapon would be better?
Whm is great, but my +2 head procs a lot and lowers the benefit of mythic club (as does the fact that I'm often only supporting one melee nowadays).
Drg mythic is super awesome, but I can't remember the last time we invited a Drg to an event other than for Angon.
Smn? Pup?
Serious question, which mythic wouldn't be a waste?
Ryunohige.
Its not the time it takes to get back up to 300 TP its the 200 TP you are wasting to get that 300 TP.
Well thats 1/2 right the weapons get a bonus at 80, at 90 is the WS bonus
and it still doesn't justify not WS til 300 TP imo.
PUP DNC(?) DRG SMN BRD(?) WHM BLU(?)
and possibly bst but cant know for sure since nobody has ever done one?
caladbolg murders apoc outside/inside of abyssea :/ and with stalwart soul, you can ride SE and it isn't an issue without apoc drain like It used to be. (honestly it really wasn't a huge deal with a good healer before)
Ah I see what you're saying. 200 tp wasted (1500 potential damage) to maintain the OAT during the duration of the aftermath (the time you have to WS freely and build back your 300 TP to maintain). So to make up the difference, you would have to do 1500 more damage during the aftermath? I think the OAT alone, combined with the extra 150 on each WS would easily meet/beat that difference, but I really don't know. The potential updrade at 95/99 in duration and damage may also tilt the scales.
I mentioned a few of those, but I think the same arguments can be made for each of those. As I said before, we never bring drg anywhere that angon isnt needed. Whm +2 head takes some of the bang away from Whm mythic (as does solo melee tanks). Smn is a really fun job and I enjoy it, but so far we use it for PD only and a token nuker to make them feel useful. Blu mythic is all about MP restoration which is largely devalued currently. I haven't partied with a dancer in months.. I guess that leaves slightly faster songs on brd?
It just seems to me that you could pick any weapon and /rage that someone upgraded it (though I do agree Rdm Sword is useless). Pld is marginally useful. They enjoy Pld. New content has made it semi useful again and newer content may do the same. 95/99 upgrades will most likely continue the upgrade trends.
Either way, useless or not, it's an accomplishment and I'm happy for both of them. I could really care less if it sat on their mannequin 99% of the time.
Yagrush's utility is in being able to remove an entire alliance's para, curse etc. with 3 casts (one per party). Fighting lolcontent like abyssea makes everyones gear less useful in the long run. Your argument that Yagrush is not as useful isn't a very good one. For anything that's worth a damn and that you need an ally for (read new content once it's released) your odds of removing an entire ally's status debuffs in three casts with your +2 head is like, what, 1 in 8000 tries assuming 5% activation rate? Even if you're only supporting a party, having status debuffs off every time for your whole party is far and away more useful than the difference between a Joyeuse PLD and a Burtgang PLD.
That being said, people upgrade what they want, because they fucking want it. What is a waste to you is a goal for someone else. Who cares.
The assumption is most times you use Gekko (aka not in Abyssea ever), it's vs higher level mobs where you may not acc cap as easily (it's rare to be severely lacking in attack while being 100% fine on accuracy). As soon as the 30 accuracy comes into play, Amano beats Masamune.
the first locked Aymur was just completed. and its very likely that Aymur is best weapon for bst.and possibly bst but cant know for sure since nobody has ever done one?
The dps is lower than empyrean & relic, but its the highest base damage for WS and Attack+ for bst pets is very good, since pretty much all pet damage comes from melee, and the 4.2 ratio cap for pets.
It *might* actually be worth gettign 300% tp for the aftermath on bst because it affects the pet as well. Bst WS are not fantastic; w/ such high attack on the pet, the double attack aftermath from both master and pet may do more damage. I'm pretty confident it will outside abyssea, not sure inside abyssea... though pets can crit over 650 in visions zone (normal mob) w/ rr and a few attack+ atma.. rr + SS may push that up around 850.
hmm.. need to do more number crunching to compare, it seems close.
It probably matters if the Ocassionally attacks 2x from aftermath conflicts with DA/TA or not, like most OAX weapons. Does it?
Is this true? Murders just seems a bit strong.
Whilst I expected Caladbolg would win, I'd have thought having to use unfavourable STP gear would level them out at least a little bit? Least I thought that was the consensus last time it was discussed here or am I overlooking something?
