Thanks to the kind folks on GW, they were very quick to correct my stance on afterglow for the weapon, and as it turns out 1.5 billion gil for 30 seconds of minuet I isn't a colossal waste of time/money/effort after all and I'm just a hater.

It's obviously not for the stats, and that person is all about having perfect everything on BRD. I'll probably slowly and shamefully afterglow my mythic whenever I finish, if I don't quit by then anyways.

I just can't see it being worth it for some reason. Initially I thought the Afterglow effects would be potent, but they are insanely lack luster for the amount of effort and materials that go into them.

That much gil could be another 7~8 other Relics @.@

Farming 8 relics, 7 of which are necessarely gimp shit and inferior to empy probably, is totally worth it.

Am I the only person that thought about the real life buck you could earn from the gil you spend on an afterglow weapon.

It's not a matter of worth for some people though. My wife did a Claustrum for the lulz and despite all her other relics/empys being infinitely more useful, Claustrum is still seemingly her favourite.

It's the same reason why some people enjoy 'lesser' jobs over ones that are way more useful.

Personally I agree with you that afterglows aren't worth the time/effort/gil but for some people they will be because it's not about the raw stats for them.

EDIT: And sometimes things that are worthless can become useful! Ragnarok wasn't worthwhile when I did it, doubly so because I had Apoc. But it certainly is worth it now >_>

No endgame gear has a stat that is worth farming over AF3+2/empyrean wpn. Depends what you call "worth". No gear is going to be decisive enough to be worth farming, it's just a fantasm. In the end the "top" gear is mostly a trophy, so I don't see why those 99bis trials would be any more useless than others. All of endgame is towngear farming. As such, those weapons are definitely the top tier weapons and worth getting.

Totally. Shiny stats make a good reason to farm them, however they are at best situational side grade so why would they be worth beside the look ? For instance, in the case of your trophy, the basic AF3+2 body is worse only when all your stats, are capped, and only 40% of the time when your best JA is not up, and I'm sure you could pull out an augmented osode that would still beat it.

Phorcys Body, Armada Hauberk, Valkyries Breastplate, Huggin Gambieras, etc.

Your example is only good as an impetus down piece and that's marginally better than Toci's. I love MNK, and I would probably never waste my time getting that when there are other good pieces to dump gil into.

Khepri hat has the potential to be absolute best in slot (might be anyway, not gonna bother working it out). Not to mention, Khepri hat is in contention with another piece (Thaumas hat) and the two of them are miles ahead of anything else.

The two of them are worse than augmented shura kabuto for victory smite. Also I would like to point out that unlike what you two try to imply, I didn't say that no gear is better than AF3+2, I said that if 99* trial aren't worth it then no gear is worth getting using the same logic because none is going to be "decisive" for anything.

not miles ahead of a perfectly augmented shura kabuto +1; although khepri +1 is more realistic than a shura head with 3%WS, 5STR and 7 attack.
