Pretty sure PUP would win the title of best vanilla DD against trash mobs solo

BLU/WAR with 4/5 thaumas and Almace with TA/DW3 set probably is. Their melee is insane and most physical BLU spells are insta-cast spammable WS-like damage. Delta does 700ish, Amorphic 1200-1500, QC 1700ish Heavy Strike 1600, add in CA or Efflux to either of those spells for 3-4k+. Seriously BLU is a beast on mobs where level correction isn't a factor.

I've been playing w/ DPS spreadsheets.
blu w/ gear from this thread:

And bst w/ the best sets I could come up w/.

BLU Total DPS: 273.276 (blu/war w/ Prothecar's recommended spell set, /war ja's and haste)
BST Total DPS: 215.660 (bst/nin w/ killer effects (you would not get killer instinct bonuses in dynamis)

I'm not sure how the spells are used in the spreadsheet. I can't say how spell use might effect this.
In this mostly unbuffed situation vs lower level mobs, bst pet is going to contribute alot of damage. I'd say pet is at least 1/2 of master damage here.

unless blu can balance out multiple targets via spell killing and mp/hp management. so still needs a parse, but looks to me like bst wins (and does so w/out a legendary weapon). Throwing in Guttler in would increase it as well.

Except the rest of us are playing ffxi, not your bizarre fantasy. And in ffxi, you aren't averaging 6k smites in dynamis (or 4k shatters for that matter).

It was an exaggeration but on equal targets a BLU isn't going to outdamage a PUP, sorry to break it to you. Chant du cygne isn't that hot (it's certainly not better than victory smite), swords are inferior dps weapons, and blue magic is limited by MP and sucks against anything with high defense. What does BLU have going for it? 5% triple attack? Ooooooooo. So broken!

You cleary haven't seen a BLU tearing through low level mobs. I'm not saying it's 100% for sure superior, but it's a competitor so strong that at least having doubts is the most sensible thing to do. Even if the BLU can't spam magic mob after mob, they can easily toss 1-2 spells per and highly increase their DPS, without having to rest.

Some times I think most PUPs are blinded with some strange magic that make them live in a world where they have no competition in anything they do. Let's be more realistic, ok? I know PUP is very capable, but ignoring the strenghths of other jobs just make you look ignorant.


Besides, I think this epeen/what's better/whatever discussion doesn't belong in this thread. I don't really know if there is a better place for it, but doesn't seem appropriate in a thread dedicated to show the recently acquired shiny toys.
