It might be better on paper, I dunno, but it never happened in reality in my experience (parsed data). It is, of course, not now. I was just mentioning that it never has been for those who seem to think it was. Maybe every single apoc I played with was poor.

Once upon a time, in the era of DRK zerg, before the 80% haste cap nerf, before the 2-hand accuracy and damage nerfs, when there were only 3 merits for Desperate Blows, Apoc was good. The Catastrophe haste even allowed that zerging Apoc extra HP gear for massive souleater returns. Was a small window, sometime around 2007-2008, when Rune Chopper was on-par with k.club in that niche, that Apoc ruled the zerg parse. Everyone botted kings, many colibri died, and children could play safely in the streets. Those were good times.

34delay Apoc shat on everything for a few years. Ofcourse there were only a few dozen people that even had Apoc back then. I have SSs on Killingifrit doing 22k or so damage to Kirin in 25ish seconds. Almost 1000 DPS would be a big deal even by todays standards.

I could say the same thing about 99% of the Ragnarok DRKs, that doesn't mean Ragnarok isn't more damaging than Apoc.

4:10 and yes ofcourse. Apoc was keeping up with WARs and SAMs for 3:40 and then absolutely trashing them for 30 seconds. Even with LR down you could still TP in nice gear with capped gear haste. (unlike every other 2hand job) From the introduction of Desperate blows until the haste nerf Apoc was smashing parses.

Don't get me wrong, I trust you were but I'm sure if we could time warp back you'd find it was generally accepted here that WAR was stronger than Apoc DRK (not talking zergs).

I disagree with the keeping up outside of LR too... Cata was crap back then let's not base it on how it is today. Cata was averaging slightly less than 700 where RR and Gekko were averaging 1000 at least in my experience, with WAR and SAM gaining TP faster generally due to an extra 10% or more DA etc. Aswell as massive attack gains due to Berserk etc. I'm genuinely surprised you think Apoc was the top DD at 75 Taint.

I feel like daves numbers are a bit off.

I am an amano sam from the 75 cap era. and while the things you say maybe true "sam > apoc dark" on 75 cap

but the difference wasnt that big. it was more or less 1000(drk) - 1200(sam) on average and the sams averages were with a totsu / hagun situational setup. fully unlocked amano numbers may exceed that but it depends on mobs, and i was speaking on mobs that actually had some sort of defense.

We talk about Apoc when it was totally broken right? From what i've read here DRK could have had 80%+ haste. I'm not sure that the ws average alone would help WAR and SAM beating a broken Apoc DRK.

pre haste cap apoc drk were broken during zergs and a force outside of zergs. granted they might have lost against an amano or bravura bu t very close. they shited on everything else not to mention the benefit if the WS.

They are only talking about pre haste nerf arent they? When a job can get so much more haste than anything else, of course it was top of the line DD.
