New RMT exploit or gimmick?

I think a truism that applies here is that any way that normal players can make money, RMT can do it better. Their only limitations now are what they can do on trial accounts (aside from the money they make off real players selling them gil).

the product will always be of the same quality (gil is gil), but the cost of operation is lower for cgf as their time is very nearly worth nothing. in addition, they can use tools and such without fear of retribution as their chars are created and destroyed constantly while ours are not. if there's some avenue that we could make money off of but we're limited by the time we have to invest, they will make money off of it as time is totally irrelevant to them.

ha ha, I don't think it was the RMT that caused SE to nerf the rusty cap > padded cap bonanza years ago, that was just the influx of HUNDREDS of players into Rabao at the same time, fishing up rusty items, and the price of Light clusters going up to like 5K.

And yes, the grass seeds look like they could generate significant NPC income if you spammed gardening with them on a lot of mules. The flowerpot NPC is also just around the corner (I'm guessing they are using brass flowerpots since they are readily available and cheap).

Lets see, minimum yield of 12 from a single crystal x 420 gil each. I'd say we're on to something.

Not all crystals give Wildgrass.
You can also get 15G Fire Crystals or 48G Gyshal Greens which is why I stopped

Wildgrass is not 30k/week per character. You could also get harvests of only Fire Crystals and Gyshal Greens which sell for shit.

It's really not worth it unless you're doing it in mass bulk, and even then you can still get like an 8k harvest. Really wasn't worth the time.

They're most certainly doing something with Gyshal Greens, intentionally or not, because we were spam trading them pre-Dyna-Bastok and I got a stack of them. A friend of mine got an Ice Crystal too, though I don't know if that really matters much.

I ended up making a lot of Porcelain Pots from Alchemy 58 to 60, so I outfitted 4 mules with them, and they are making about 25k/week. Ghysal (sp?) Greens really lower the money you make if you use that crystal (Ice is worst so far). Water and Lightning seem to do pretty well. I usually dont get that many crystals from them, though that may be due to the pot. I would like to try out a Wooden Pot garden, but it is just too expensive. I'm also testing out how easy it is to get Arcane pots from the Strange Apparatus mini-game right now too. I may try dipping into Ore gardening if that works out well, but with only four mules, profits could swing a bit too much from month to month.

One requires more attention and regular checking vs just tossing it all to vender npc when you harvest. Wooden and Arcane can give more results per harvest.

I personally think they are growing ores as well as random wildgrass seeds produce and what is sold to the npc is their non ore crop results. The ores are likely going to a crafter making staves and selling in wg. On shiva they do this in Bastok as well. They always have one mule /sit to the left you see as you come out of the mogs and they have the runners going to and from the galkan rse dealer.

Perhaps, but Wildgrass is a consistent return where Ores are a bit of a gamble. Maybe when I have a lot of capitol to invest I will try Ores. Wildgrass is just so easy and fast.

wooden flowerpots are like 50k/each, you will get like 3k profit/pot/5-6days, it's going to take you 15-16 harvests to make up the cost of the pots.

so assuming you are anal about harvest and replant it will take you 2 and a half months before you see any profit

I use brass flowerpots personally with water crystals, then use the fire they produce for next plant/harvest

Oh, I was told that there is some exploit with open mog that allows them to harvest the same plants multiple times, hence the open mog.

You cannot access the mog house menu in a shared mog house.

I have seen and reported this to STF this weekend on Asura. They seem to have 3-4 hub characters which just stand outside with a shared mog house party. The ant workers that seem to do the gil making just travel to the rse npc and then send some stuff to a delivery box. They then run to the Mog house area and talk to the shared mog house npc.

The hub characters seem to use a naming convention. The rest just seem like mashed keyboards.

no can't, but something about shitty network code allowing them to harvest plants in someone elses moghouse but it doesn't empty the pots so it can be harvested over and over. Guessing they wrote some program to do this.

I was told this by some guy on game who said he works for some security people contracted by SE to find security holes in ffxi. He says they tell the devs whenever they find this kind of shit and just hope that they are smart enough to fix it.

Actually, when I was doing this on a regular basis, I was netting at least 20k per harvest per character. Still, it isn't quick but it is steady.

QFT. Myself, 4 mules. 2 with Porc. pots, 2 with brass pots, all would on average get roughly 18k per harvest profit. Was significantly more when you could sell fire crystals at at least 1k/stack. 8k/harvest? You must have some real shitty luck :/

Did they have one single char in kneel or /sit directly to the left as you come out of the mog house?
