3g and was upgrading to 3.1
Get them from appulo.us . You'll need to add "cydia.hackulo.us" in Cydia under Source and install the package call "AppSync 3.x" though. What it does is it lets you sync the cracked apps with your phone rhrough Itunes.
Btw, has anyone try the TomTom US & Canada Navigation app? ~2GB. Cousin tried it and said it work wonderful.
Got a question about the Remote App for the iPhone. For some reason, I can't get the damn thing to connect to my iTunes. Needed ports are open on my firewall too, so I'm rather stumped.
Right now, my guess is that it is some goofy networking issue. Since every instruction/description I read says "connect to the same wifi network", I'm assuming my issues may be stemming from the fact the computer I'm connected to is hardwired to my wireless router.
Anyone have any experience with this or know where I'm going wrong here?
Did you setup iTunes for the remote?
FYI, to those people hoping to upgrade their 3GS to 3.1 (with the new pwnage tool released today)...
Hackulous appears to be down and there's no way to get AppSync 3.1 to work at the moment since the source is not available...
Having dealt with the presistant "coma" problem and the massive battery drain of 3.1, I promptly went back to 3.0.1
3.1 jailbreak for Windows users
http://iphone.phisher1.com/category/.../jailbreaking/
Unless the jailbreak fixes the coma issue (which no reason it should fix it) I'm staying very far away from 3.1
3.1.2 is out that fixes the coma bug, among others.
Apple Releases 3.1.2 fw: Solves Sleep Issues
Obviously don't update if you are jailbroken or unlocked.
3.1.2 Jailbreak for windows is out, and doesn't require the headaches of the one posted a little back.
blackra1n is stupid fast, and jailbreaks directly within 3.1.2. However this does mean baseband update, and no hacktivate. So if not an AT&T customer, or you require yellowsn0w, or other unlock for phone service, you are still in the boat of "Do not Update" on windows.
When I update from 3.0 to 3.1.2 (and then jailbreak 3.1.2), will I lose all the apps and settings that are only available on a jailbroken phone?
Depends. Jailbreaks can be finicky, and sometimes won't take unless the phone is restored to default settings -> jailbroken -> restore from backup.
But as long as you have a recent backup with that firmware, you can always restore all your settings. Some apps might lose info though.
You can backup jailbroken apps in iTunes?
No, for that you will want AptBackup from Cydia. It basically stores offline your entire list of packages, so when you jailbreak again and run it, it automatically redownloads all your packages.
What's the recommended method of syncing contacts/calendar/etc. on a jailbroken phone?
How about uploading media (music/videos) to be viewed/played as if it were done via iTunes?
