Comprehensive iPhone Apps/Jailbreak Thread

I just jailbroke my Ipod Touch last week so I'm still trying to figure out some things to do with it. Is there a special app to get those types of layouts? I've been looking through the Cydia database and haven't really seen anything that sounds like it.

The top bar is Signal Strength, Carrier, Wifi Strength/3G/Edge (in this case, low Wifi strength), Date - Time, Status Dots (none visible at the moment), Bluetooth, Battery %, Battery Graphic

Top Row is all CatagoriesSB. It has the icon to page swipe for common used apps, but with CatagoriesSB I have no need for that.

Thanks for the CategoriesSB thing, that was one of the things I've constantly seen with no explanation. The only other thing I was wondering about was your icons on the bottom. Are those from a theme or app to give them the reflecting/3D effect to them?

For categories, is there a button I need to press to toggle on the top bar? I have a downloaded version and seem to have all the add-ons mentioned, except for that top one. I've tried to look through the settings and normal app but

I just used forecast the other day on my 3.1.3 3gs, and it said Jailbreak: "only if SHSH is saved". Tryint to read up it seems I would have already had to have jailbroken my phone in the past or something? Any more detailed explanations out there? thanks. FYI im not a totaly jailbreak noob, my old 2g was jailbroken and I loved it besides the service sucking. (which was not the jailbreaks fault, it was always horrid"

Oh, alright, thanks for the suggestions. I think I got it all figured out now for the basics. The only thing I can't find is the location to change the "music" and "settings" icons to the text ones.

You need folders with those names.

Or, change the name of them to the name of the music app you want to use, and settings would be Settings.png
(caps do count)

I use the Tools as a folder that keeps stuff like fontswap, cydia, settings, Winterboard, etc.

Need software to jailbreak my iPhone 3G.

It has OS 3.1.3 and modem firmware 05.12.10

Main problem - power button doesn't work, so I can't send it into DFU mode for redsnow to work.

Any suggestions?

question.. since you have to restore to use it, if i sync'd with itunes before i did it would it save my jailbreak apps as well? and like my saves on games?

Anything installed with cydia, no.

If you installed any paid apps for free from the itunes store, you can transfer to itunes and back to iphone with no issues if you have Appsynch installed on your phone.

To answer deenybird's question, 3rd party apps installed by Cydia are stored in /private/var/stash/applications/ but you need to backup more than just the apps to make everything work right.

To backup everything do one of these:

Option #1
SFTP into your iPhone and backup all apps you've installed via Cydia that are in the directory above.
Also backup the folder called "apt" in /private/etc/
Restore Pwned firmware or new firmware them QuickPwn it, and SFTP in and copy back your apps and the "apt" folder to their correct directories and let Cydia update everything.

Option #2
You can install "AptBackup" (use Cydia and search for it) and it will backup a list of al the apps you've installed via Cydia. That list then gets backed up when you do a normal backup to iTunes. Then after you have to restore your iPhone, use AptBackup to restore the list and Cydia will install them all back at the same time.

I am doing this right now to install 2.1 on my iPhone 3G!

so I "jailbroke" my itouch 2g 3.1.3 firmware with the spirit jailbreak, however it doesnt seem like it really did. I do see that Cydia is installed, however I am not able to access root and such. Programs like diskaid tell me that my itouch is still not jailbroken. Is there a fix to this so that I can access root and all those cool other things apple doesnt want us in?

AptBackup works very well.

The important thing to remember, it doesn't save the actual programs. It creates a list so next time you go into cydia after restoring and rejailbreaking, you can download all of them from cydia in a single go.

Need some info.

I currently have an unjailbroken iphone running 3.1.3 I don't need it to be jailbroken, but I want to be able to tether to my latop. Where should I go for this? google gave me hits on so much bullshit and you guys know it best.
