Comprehensive iPhone Apps/Jailbreak Thread

I just jailbroke my phone the other day. Getting the hang of most things; however, I'm having issues trying to change things like the keyboard and dialer. It looks like the packages I downloaded are standalone and show up in Winterboard. Even though I select them, the old ones will still show.

Am I missing something?

I'm on 4.2.1 jailbroken with greenpois0n if that matters.

I recently fucked up.

I removed psuave HD while it was still activated on Winterboard through Cydia while it was still activated.

After I did that and resprung (I wasn't aware until I resprung through exiting Cydia), my icons that were white.

I loaded the default Saurik app and that took it off to get the vanilla icons back.

Now when I try to load a different theme (Ghost HD), its not loading the icon packs.

Is there any way to fix this or what are the steps needed to fix it.

Willing to restore the phone if needed (Does restoring completely get rid of the Cydia data listed as "Other" on itunes?)

Says 4.2.1, but it works for the Verizon version which is on 4.2.6

It's winterboard's compatibility w/ 4.2.1. I found that out the hard way after countless researching. A lot of stuff like themes and all usually won't work. I hate having 4.2.1 for that reason but hey, i'll live w/ it.

The "speed intensifier" tweak in Cydia is pretty fucking awesome. Apps open/close in an eyeblink, it doesn't actually make the phone run faster, but it feels like it does.

I'm running at 2.0x, have been using it for a while now and love it.

Friend bought a iphone4 from verizon off contract yesterday (something like $750 total with otterbox and idk what else lol) and I played with it for a bit to show him why mine is jailbroken and honestly I couldn't even use his phone for more than 30secs cause it sucked so bad.

Yeah it was hard to use it while restoring and playing with 4.2.1

I use Fake Clock at 1.6 and having a vanilla iphone felt sluggish.

Almost how I felt when playing with a 3GS to a 4.

Just got an iPad today and I was wondering if there are any apps (non jailbreak) that can support Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents. I found an app called "Documents To Go" but all the recent reviews say it's turned to garbage after a recent update. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone have any idea on when they might release an untethered version for 4.3? I've been looking around and every time I find one it turns out to be bogus.

I'm new to the jailbreak scene and trying to figure out if there's an e-mail mailgroup I can join that will notify me when a legit break is released...

So I bought an HD radio headunit for my car that was compatible with my iphone and had a usb front input for it. It worked great for the first week.

Then I plugged in my sisters old nano, it worked great, no problems.

Since plugging in the nano, however, my iphone will only play for about 20-30seconds of music before LOUD FUCKING STATIC HOLY FUCK happens and it stops playing the music. Crutchfield says maybe to update my iphone, but I'm afraid to do this due to being jailbroken on 4.0.1

Any ideas? I should probably make a separate thread for this since it's more of a head unit problem and not an iphone problem I think, but I don't know what to title it. Also googling didn't really help.

No friends without jailbroken iPhones to test with. I wouldn't update without first knowing if it's going to work. I'm also on 4.0.1'and refuse to upgrade til I have to. Too much custom shit I don't want to have to reconfigure.

Same. I'm going to try taking the unit out, off power etc, checking rewiring removing batt and seeing if it does some kind of reset.

FUCK I dropped my phone and it has a crack in the screen now. No idea what to do about this, think I'm fucked. Piece of shit fell from like a foot and half at most, was sitting at a kitchen table.

edit: 1 foot fall, probably the lowest height its ever fallen from and its got a small crack.

Looks like apple can replace the screen for about 200$, yeah that's a lot. eBay has non-jailbroken phones with cracked screens going for 400ish. What should I do here? Cancel contract for 300ish sell on ebay for 400+ish and open a verizon contract with some android phone? Wait for the next iphone then do that? Do nothing until it's broken more? Spend the 200 at apple store?

I've heard of people going into the Apple store and getting a brand new iPhone 4 for free because they ran it over (I don't even...). Run in there hysterically crying? Probably what this girl did. My 3G has survived many falls but there's times when I wish it hadn't.

I have no insurance on it so I'm not sure if they'll do it. Not really sure what my best option is, I don't want to pay 200$ for a fix since it can just as easily break again... then again I don't think I can use a phone with a cracked screen for a whole year. I got my phone a day or 2 before it officially released, long wait for a new upgrade and the cancellation fee is huge for att.

Anything I do will cost me a few hundred, unless I do nothing lol. But like I said I don't know how long I can ignore it. I was planning to go back to verizon after this plan was up, and I kind of want to take advantage of this situation and do it now.

Just curious, will AT&T give you some sort of deal if you report your phone stolen? Verizon will give you the exact same phone if it's stolen
