You can get programs such as "xbackup" that will backup all your jailbreak/cydia settings with your itunes backup. There's a few downsides. If you heavily customize your phone with custom shit in winterboard, swap icon and UI images, etc, then that doesn't backup and will all need redone, which can be a pain in the ass. My phone is pretty heavily modded visually, so I don't update often. I started with 4.0.1 and didn't update til 4.3.1. I guess another downside is waiting for a stable jailbreak release. So even if they do release IOS 5, you may have to wait a few weeks to update it if you want to stay jailbroken.

With that said, those are minor inconveniences, or at least to me they are. The benefits far outweigh the inconveniences.

How do you jailbreak? Id prefer to ask here rather then google some random questions. I can always jailbreak and if i mess stuff up, go back to my previous settings? Oh yeah, does it affect DLing app's at all?

Jailbreaking won't dick up your normal app store stuff in any way really. In fact it will probably make it better.

I have apple TV 4.3 Jailbreak

Apple release a new update yesterday and the jailbreak is out

If I wanna go to that version

Do I need to 1 Install Official Ios then jailbreak one^

Or can i jump straigh to jailbreak without updating the official version

Ratatapa: i don't have Apple TV but if it's the same as iPhones (which I'm sure it is) yes you have to upgrade to non-jailbreak iOS first, then jailbreak the new version

Katlan, your phone won't change at all in regards to it's normal operation with iTunes, Apple, AT&T, etc. All the Jailbreaking stuff is just "bonus" to what your phone already does.

Well, with one exception, most springboard enhancements will render the iTunes app moving ability unusable, but who uses that piece of shit anyways?

Well, that all depends on what you need. If you don't need an unlock, Redsn0w is bit easier than snowbreeze. But if you need to preserve your baseband for unlocking, stick with snowbreeze. As for unlocking, only thing there is for unlocking is ultrasn0w. But understand you only need an unlock if you plan on running on a GSM network that isn't AT&T. And know that you will only have Edge available, no 3G.

Ones like greenpoison, blackrain/limerain, etc are currently only for older iOS.

Older iOS as in older iOS versions, 4.2 etc? Is it possible to reverse to older iOS version before jailbreaking, would that allow me to use unlocking softwares that would give me 3G?

You can only downgrade if you have SHSH blobs stored on Cydia (previously jailbroken) or with TinyUmbrella. I'm guessing by your posts you have neither. As for having 3G, it's a limitation of the type of 3G service that ATT uses. The iPhone is designed for their GSM service only. All other companies 3G, like T-mobile for example, is limited to Edge only. That's not done by your baseband, but by the actual physical service. BTW, if this is an iPhone 4, you can't currently unlock it.

Nah, not trying to use T-mobile but rather traveling overseas and want to use local GSM.

So when blogs talk about unlocking 4.3.2 it's only for iPhone 3G/3GS that has installed the new iOS?

Correct. Just look at the basebands it unlocks, and look in the general settings of your phone (or look it up in Tinyumbrella) and you will see your baseband isn't on the list for iphone 4.

PhotoAlbums+ updated to a killer new version! If you don't have this yet, get it. It's worth every penny of the $5. This is how the photo albums on the phone are supposed to be!

Updated PA+, I don't see a difference :/ And I still can't edit/move/delete photos from a album I added from a backup. NFC why.

So I did a little more research and it turns out that, since iPhone 4 can't be unlocked, there are instead unlocked SIM cards specifically designed for locked iPhone 4s including ones by AT&T. Anyone know how safe it is to use those? Or have any experience with them?

Unless they've changed it, it requires you to call 112 (911) and hang up everytime you reboot the phone, which is very illegal.
