Ok up to date it's here that I get the best and precise answer.

1) What is the baseband on Iphone and what does it do

2) What's so special about updating Baseband

3) So I heard that Some jailbreak update it and some don't ? how do I know that

The baseband is what makes the phone, a phone. It is, for all intents and purposes, a modem that interacts with your carrier to provide calls and voice chat. It really is the phone aspect of the phone. On a locked iPhone, the baseband is locked into AT&T's network only (or the regional carrier of the country sold in with contracts to apple). ultrasn0w is a software unlock that basically allows the baseband to interact with all GSM networks (for the GSM version of the iPhone)

The catch is, the baseband CANNOT be downgraded. Once updated, that baseband is now forever locked into that version or higher. Currently the basebands have only been unlocked to a certain version (the baseband that came with 4.0.1 I believe) any iOS install past that will update the baseband to a version that they haven't been able to crack yet. If you use ultrasn0w (windows) or pwnagetool (mac), they create a custom .ispw that performs the jailbreak but removes the portion that upgrades the baseband. If you use your phone on an unsupported carrier and ever accidently update to the latest iOS without using the custom ispw, you now have a very fancy paperweight.

There is some apps I wanna buy on the appstore but that I wanna wait for instalous (for Ipad2)

But First we don't know if JB is ever gonna get out.

So either I buy it, or Wait till Ios 4.3.3 JB is out and get them free and never update to 5 which is gay.

Comex's iPad2 (and all other iDevice) JB will be out soon for 4.2.1-4.3.3.

It is very likely that since he was able to crack iPad 2 4.3 - 4.3.3, he will have no problem with iOS 5 once it is out, but it could be a bit. Most of the cydia stuff handles what I would want in iOS 5 anyway though.

about pkgbackup I Know that that the APP is to save your cydia apps but here is my questions

1) Does it sends it to itunes or to cydia (the backup)
2) Does it save the progress of a game Exemple (I hope you can answer even though it might be illegal) I download FFIII from Installous Create a game and play 20h in it exemple
So I backup with pgkbackup and update my Iphone, then jailbreak it. When I restore the backup with Pkgbackup with i get my game back or will i need to restart?


3) Depending the answer on #1 is it how you do the process

a) Download pkgbackup on cydia
b) Hook up your iphone on your PC then click backup
c) Update your iphone to the new FW
d) Jailbreak it
e) redownload pkgbackup
f) Make sure your hooked up to itunes
g) Restore the backup???

pkgbackup doesn't really backup anything. Basically all it does is create a list (that I believe is stored in a cloud and not on the phone) and after you restore your phone and re-jailbreak, you would redownload the package, open it, it opens the list and then automatically downloads all your packages you had before from Cydia. But any modifications you made, etc are lost.

The end of blobs?



Saved SHSH Blob Restores almost at an end?
MuscleNerd has tweeted several messages in the last hour which signal that the golden age of SHSH Blob replay attacks may be nearing an end.

After iOS5 is released it looks as though it will no longer be possible to save new SHSH Blobs and play them back to iTunes to fool it into restoring a previous firmware which is no longer being signed.

Whilst restores of 4.x and 3.x should still work if you have saved blobs and a supported version of iTunes (e.g. 10.3), new 5.x blobs will not be of use if you save them away and try and use them later.

According to MuscleNerd Apple is introducing a "number used once" (nonce) to the signing window just as they do for the baseband at the moment which will defeat the replay attack which is currently exploited to allow saved Blobs to work.

Sad news indeed. This will make it even more important to take great care with your upgrades / restores / and installs when jailbroken OR when waiting for a jailbreak!

If you install something old / incompatible with your device and have to restore you could be in for a world of pain if the "current" firmware is not jailbreakable...

Ipad2 JB released imminent?

Yesterday Saurik unreleased an update to cydia called 1.1.2

He's asking people not to update because it hasn't been tested yet.

But In the info about that version he keeps saying that he fixed stuff for the boot and the unifoms that Comex had problems with.

Not long after, comex tweeted.

Not alot bugs left to fix.

Anyone have a nice, clean, HD theme that's free? I downloaded BabaBuuf or something like that and while it fits the bill, it causes my phone to slow down quite a bit and this is on an iPhone 4... Also, don't know where to ask this besides here, but has anyone seen a real carbon fiber back replacement? All I can find is stickers. I bought an iSkin Vu which I really like but the previous owner scratched the back slightly.

Thats if the jailbreak even gets released for the latest firmwares...... apple has a copy of this as well, and will probably patch the exploit in newer firmware.

As long as I get my SBsettings and MyWi, that's great ;o Don't really care too much about pirated apps as pretty much all my apps are paid... would have liked to be able to try out apps though.
