got my 4s yesterday and been playing with siri. Does it do anything? It sends text and sets alarms fine but i've tried to open the camera, asked it to take a picture, asked it to find a local verizion store and it cant do any of them >.>

Unconfirmed: iPhone 4S Unlocking Method Found, Doesn't Require Software or Hardware

This seems strange and we haven't been able to test it yet, but here it goes: someone claims that there is a way to unlock the iPhone 4S without using any hardware or unlock application. Just using this method:

The claim is that this only works with the AT&T iPhone 4S. Like in other times, proceed at your own risk. This has not been tested by us yet.

1. Insert original carrier AT&T SIM card
2. Dial 611 for AT&T customer service hotline and drop the call
3. Turn on Airplane Mode
4. Take out AT&T SIM card
5. Insert T-Mobile SIM card
6. Make sure WiFi is off ( also tap on ‘Forget this Network" to make sure it doesn't connect automatically later)
7. Switch off Airplane Mode and iPhone will search for network. This is followed by the Apple splash screen appearing.
8. Activation Required will be displayed on the screen
9. EDGE network will activate automatically – notice the ‘E' on the top left corner of the screen
10. Wait for about 20-30 seconds and turn off the phone
11. Turn on iPhone and the same Activation Required screen will be displayed
12. When you see one signal bar, tap on Use Cellular Connection
13. Eject SIM card
14. Activation Required screen will be displayed the second time
15. Insert SIM card
16. Unlocked!

You will need to cut the T-Mobile SIM card so it fits into the Micro-SIM card slot in the iPhone 4S. There are several devices to do this accurately available online.

We are going to try it as soon as we get our hands in a T-Mobile SIM. If you have tried this method and wnat to share your results, please write to [email protected] or tell us in the comments. [Pastebin]

Not sure I'm going to be happy with this tethered jailbreak but I couldn't go without mywi any longer for work.

Thought I used tinyumbrella to store my 4.0.1 but I can't find it, must have lost it in a reformat. Lost all my installous games too, never upgrading again.

Developer Eric Day has released Siri0us, a package for jailbroken iOS devices that enables Siri dictation functionality.

To install Siri on your device you must jailbreak and install the Siri0us package from the http://apt.if0rce.com Cydia repository.

Initial reports reveal that Siri0us works on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4 Running Ios5. We will be posting instructions soon. Stay tuned!

Read Me,Note;
The developer has noted a bug that some may run into when trying to install. If your iDevice keeps respringing, do not restore! Use a SSH tool to Remove the /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AssistantServices.framework file.

It took us 5 or 6 retries to download the package, so if you get any errors just back out and start over. Also, keep in mind that we have the tweak running on testing devices with no personal information on board as a precaution. However, we have no reason to believe that Siri0us is dangerous.

Update # 1:

The if0rce repo is getting slammed so you may have trouble adding it to Cydia at this time.

Update # 2:

Dictation works great on the iPhone 4, transcribing words into text rather quickly. The technology is actually Naunce-based dictation, but the end result is pretty much the same as Apple’s Siri. As you can see in the video, small ads are displayed in the bar above the mic icon. You will need an internet connection for the microphone to show up.

We have also confirmed that Siri0us works on the iPod touch 4G.

Update # 3:

Several User's have tipped us that this does indeed work on the iPhone 3GS.

Chronic-Dev team has a untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 No word when it will be released, but pod2g posted the video of the untether working. No word yet if 4S/iPad2 compatible (but unlikely at this point. I hear it is still using the limera1n exploit, which doesn't work on A5)

Looks like pod2g has worked out an untether for all devices, including the A5 variety. I'm assuming he's going to hold until 5.1 but we'll see. I'll be damn happy when this iPad 2 is jailbroken.

For some reason my google calendar isnt updating right.

If I add an event on my computer on google calendar, it immediately shows up on iphone calendar. The reverse is not working. I used to be able to add something on my phone and see it online, I no longer can.

Still no help on calendar thing eh? Guess I'll just add google calendar to my homescreen and use that instead of iOS one.... Unless someone can recommend me something 3rd party thats even better that syncs both ways with google cal?


edit: says I should be able to go into cydia and find it, but its not there.
