Your friend has to send you a code every little bit, i believe.
yeah, the token changes each day. Plus, if Apple figured out a way to discover you are doing it, they could cancel your friends access to Siri also, even though he has a 4S.
After a few days I finally got sirizone stuff working. I had some weird issue with spire. Im pretty happy with it since its only 20 bucks for a year and they have decent support for it.
Ok so I jailbroke my 4s. Now what -.-
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm only a few weeks into jailbreak but I jailbroke my own phone.
Did you get Cydia? Through Cydia, get Installous -- this will be your new AppStore pretty much.
Once you have Installous, just search for an app that you desire in search. You then have the option to download the app just like you have in the appstore menu, but it pulls up options on where you want to acquire the app from. If it's a free app, I definitely recommend always getting it from AppStore directly. If not, then you want to go to the links (that are at times 1 or 2 versions behind the most updated version that's available through the app store) that are hosted on places like filedude, fileape, mediafire, sendspace, etc.
The moment you click that, you'll get an initial captcha that I think is innate to Installous. Complete the captcha and you'll get to whatever filehost you had selected, which often requires another captcha. Should be self explanatory from there on acquiring the file -- be wary of fake download links (and it's a safari window methinks, so you can zoom in to make sure you don't click incorrectly).
Once successfully put to download, Installous will make you aware of it and additionally allow you to check on the progress/download speed. Once you've downloaded it (in Installous' downloaded tab), click the app and click "Install" if you want to Install. Voila, app.
I've got some recommended apps that are mainly for utility purposes. I've avoided all gaming apps. I'll segment them as I've grouped on my phone:
General Utilities:
Camera+
Flashlight
Find iPhone
Adobe Reader
Adobe Photoshop Express
TurboScan
Red Laser
SugarSync (or Dropbox, but I went with SS)
Skype/FB/Twitter/whatever social media you use
Productivity/News/Books:
Evernote
Sleep Cycle (Alarm that monitors your sleep)
Fitness Buddy
NikeGPS
Mint (aka Mint.com, monitors your bank/budget)
Dragon Dictation
Dragon Go!
NPR / BBC News
iBooks / Kindle
TED Talks
Travel:
Word Lens
Google Translate
AroundMe
Google Earth
Gas Buddy
Entertainment:
VLC
VLC Remote
VLC Streamer
Spotify
Pandora
Soundhound (it's HQ Shazaam)
Crackle (Sony's? or something's free movie/show site. Has seinfeld, all I care about)
Hope that helps.
EDIT: I put this in the random tech q thread as well, but just incase, any suggestions for a solid-protection iphone case that doesn't break the bank?
So Ipad3 pmuch garunteed to be announced/launched/whatever this week, rumors of multiple size models and possibly mini-versions ala-kindle and what have you.
I'll probably get the best wifi one available, since I'll find a way to tether to it anyway if need be, but I'm not sure what size to get if they do in fact offer 3 size models like the current gen offers. I've never had a tablet before, and don't really know how much space I need. My iPhone4 is 32gb and I use 22-23gb of it, but this is skewed cause I have two movies on it and several hundred lossless music files right now.
Any of you have tablets? What would you recommend size-wise? I'll be using it almost exclusively for school and work, textbooks notebooks etc, as well as typical non-productive and non-work-related activity while at work, for the most part anyway. I will do some work on it, but not much. It's mainly for school.
If they keep the current model, the options are 16/32/64gb. 64 is way too much, but I don't know if I'll ever even need 32 considering I only just now am breaking 20gb on my phone with ridiculous lossless on it.
Well, today is my last full day as an iPhone user. My Galaxy Skyrocket arriving tomorrow. (more out of need than want, but it's still a good phone.)
I have a 16GB iPad and never get close to filling it up. I store everything over (whimsical voice) "the cloud". All my music is on google music, most of my docs and shit are in my dropbox. The only thing I really have on my ipad are games/apps and some textbooks. I would sell my 2 and buy a 3, but I don't know exactly how long it'll be before they find a jailbreak for it. It took months for the iPad2.
I'm not as concerned about a jailbreak due to what I'll be using it for. Good to know 16 may be enough, and if I cloud it will definitely be enough.
Just jailbroke mine and GFs iphone 4s's. Both went smoothly and fast, got cydia on both phones easy. Problem is with my phone i can use Cydia and find things. Her phone wont find anything on cydia. The home screens of cydia look the same but when you go to store products i have a 10000 more options than she does. She only has:
All packages
admininistration
archiving
development
packaging
repositories
security
system
terminal support
utilities
all serches return 0 results... Any idea what is wrong?
Edit went to changes and hit refresh and it redownloaded everything and works fine now
Anyone making a iPad 3 thread?
I'll be preordering either the 16 or 32gb one as soon as apple store comes up. Not sure on color if I have a choice though. Still not sure on size. Looks like ~14.5-15gb of my iphone is music, and this won't have music on it so I guess the 16gb version wins.
1:23 Schiller time! “Retina display” “Stunning” 2048 x 1536 pixels!
1:27: A5X Quad core graphics. Dual core processor. Everyone was right. Or everyone was wrong!
1:30 Voice dictation Siri-ous.
1:29: 5 megapixel camera, 1080P recording. Crazy Apple optics. This will ruin just about every public event in the future.
1:28 Supposedly 4X performance of the just release NVIDIA Quad Core Tegra 3. I suppose there will be some discussion on this front.
1:42: Preoders start today and delivered on March 16th in US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia.
1:40 Still has 10 hour battery on Wifi and 9 hours of 4G. Starts at $499. Same prices across the board.
1:55 iWork Apps with jaw dropping graphics – available today at the app store (great – that helps a lot!)
1:53 “more memory and higher screen resolution than an Xbox 360 or PS3.”
1:51: Epic Games is demoing Dungeons: craft the Infinity Blade. looks pretty nuts. Guess that’s why Infinity Blade went on sale this morning.
1:18 Speaking of Gloating, Apple sold more iPads than anyone else sold PCs and GDGT has the graph to prove it
So, when I got my 4s I gave my 3gs to my daughter... she's constantly running the battery down and playing games when she shouldn't be. If I jailbreak it, can I get a free (or cheap) app that can block games during certain times (like before 5pm) and/or give a daily limit to game time (1-2 hours)? I've only seen 1 app on the official app store for game time restriction, and it's basically just a timer you start when you give the kid the phone and pops up a notice when time is up...
I don't want to delete most of the games because they have alot of unlocked levels and saved games from when I used the phone myself (levels of Plants vs Zombies and Angry Birds for example). I want her to have the phone with her so I can call if I need to find her, but I don't want her to spend all her time playing and running down the battery fast >.>
There is. I think its called App Locker? not 100% sure but I believe that is the name of it.
It requires you to enter a password to access the app iirc
You could just give her the charger or you know delete the games because lol unlocked levels
The biggest problem is she's playing games during school time occasionally, but I still want her to have the phone in case I need to get a hold of her... After school she's not always where she's supposed to be when I pick her up. I would rather not delete the games, because I spent a while playing to unlock stuff in some of those paid games and don't want to lose it all T.T I'd been tempted to jailbreak both phones for a while, and if I can simply lock the games when needed it'd be a win-win.
Planning to do the jailbreak this afternoon if I can, haven't read up enough on it yet to be sure I can do it with the current iOS. Just planning to do the 3GS for now, but if I like it I may jailbreak the 4S as well.
edit: Did the jailbreak yesterday and AppLocker works like a charm. Starting to play with some other programs before I decide whether or not to jailbreak my 4S. It's kinda annoying that the 3GS needs to boot while linked to a computer, but I assume that's temporary until they get a better jailbreak working after the recent iOS update.
My daughter really likes some of the WinterBoard themes, though they're a bit hard to browse to find the better ones ^^; She likes Pokemon, so if anyone knows a good Pokemon theme that would work on a non-retina screen, let me know. I still need to read more on how to make themes, maybe we'll just make a completely personalized theme by combining elements of other themes.
Iphone4, MyWi current:
Having an issue where when I turn mywi off, I lose 3g/internet/everything until I reboot. I can't text, check email, surf the web, nothing unless I reboot. This happens everytime I run Mywi and I don't know what to do about it.
So far I've just dealt with it, anyone have a similar issue or know of a fix?
I have an iPhone 3GS and haven't updated since June (When I got it)
Is their a jailbreak available for the latest version? Or what version should I update to?
Also, if I update it, will I lose all my jailbreak stuff and have to re-install all of it?
