    Diet Systems

    BG~

Has anyone here ever gone on a diet system? I'm currently eyeing Nutrisystem. It seems to be the best ranked and favorite among people. I'm only looking to lose 25-35 lbs, so should only have to be on it for 2 months. I am going to the gym 4x a week as well, but I just want stuff that is portion controlled the right way, so I can get out of the mindframe that I need a ton of food to be satisfied.

It seems a bit pricey at $300 a month, but I spend about that anyone between breakfast and lunch as it is, so I figure I can't go terribly wrong. From what I have read, most people that have gone on it and stuck with the plan tend to lose a decent amount of weight.

Thoughts/opinions from anyone that's tried this or anything similar?

I used Weight Watchers, signed up online and used it to track what I ate. I lost about 25 pounds on it so far.

They usually have a 2 week free trial so may want to check it out and see how you like before you dive into Nutri System.

If you lose muscle on your diet your metabolism will go down so you'll end up gaining more weight than you started with once you stop starving yourself plus you'll be physically weaker.

That is what I think happened to my friend who went to weight watchers..

Doesn't work, it'll be a temporary suture and you'll put back the weight on. Healthy living isn't a means to an end it's a lifestyle, you'll just fall back into your old patterns.

I use a diet, (Even though I don't need it), to maintain what I have. What I do is I would eat everything I would normaly eat, I'de go up, put it on my plate, but then I would take 25% of it off my plate. I did this for a month or two with my dad and he lost weight gradually. He would then do 50% of the food, and ended it with that, losing something like 50 lbs in forget the time.

    wat?

You always lose muscle when you lose weight regardless of how you do it, there is no real way around that, a portion of your muscle mass is there to support your fat, and as you lose that fat you stop needing that muscle.

A 1000lb man has 300-400lbs of muscles, but if he got skinny he isn't suddenly the Hulk.
So I don't know what you're talking about, that's a natural part of fat loss.

If you do a system like that, you have to remember to keep doing it yourself after the weight is lost. By that I mean, don't go back to eating however you eat now.

Buy small plates and cups, and tell yourself "one serving."
You have to change your lifestyle a bit, or the weight will come back.

Exercise + portion control. You don't need a "diet" unless you plan on doing it for life. Because once you get off that "diet" you'll most likely gain all the weight back.

Diets are bad because you're depriving your system of the nutrient it needs to function properly. Exercising + eating properly is the way to go, however, be realistic w/ your goals.
