i thought that they did this in ulduar gear on the ptr? i haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but that's what people in my guild were saying the other night.

This will probably be how my guild gets people that drake mount once we get some Ulduar gear. We might try before then, but I think we're all too lazy at this point and it'd require a really specific group to be together and get the buffs for it. We have no DPS warriors for instance and so we'd need to find the right buff stacking for our casters for it to work...
Yeah, I'm liking the zerg method of the 10 man a lot more. Tried it the other day and got him down to 40% with a pretty awful group composition, but zerging it should be hella easy as long as you've got 4k+ raid DPS on your 8 DPS.
I hope they patch it soon, the fight in its normal form is the only challenging encounter in the game that requires proper setup and coordination. Its a shame its been reduced to DPS stacking.

Did this tonight. You really have to play like a champion the whole time; one slip up and it's over. Took us about fifteen attempts, I think, but we spent the majority of the day theorycrafting every single aspect to make sure the math was sound. I've no doubt that this will get fixed soon so that when Sartharion hits 25% he'll just AoE pyro the raid if any of the drakes are still up. They've been in no rush to fix the Voidwalker tank though so probably got till 3.1 comes out in a few months.

If they patched away kiting Jedoga Shadowseeker you bet they'll patch this away. Shame, it looks like a pretty quick clear.
Hey Russta, what's the loot mod your using?
looks like xloot.
Definitely not the problem, I've done it the normal way a number of times and just find it extremely fun and challenging. This approach just changes the challenge from the coordination aspect to max DPS zerging, which isn't what makes the fight as prestigious as it is currently. The fight isn't Brutallus, its not measured by your min-maxing and raid stacking, its supposed to be measured by how coordinated and non-retarded your group is.
The sad thing is that the groups that can pulll together this kind of DPS have the DPS to kill it the normal way, unless your healers and tanks are the weakest part of your group. It just feels silly to me now that so many guilds with a strong core of 8+ DPS can't do this the normal way.
I love Sarth because of the superb design that went into it. With a simple choice, the fight turns from the easiest in the game to the hardest currently, at near Sunwell level. That's just brilliant design and a great jump for Blizzard IMO, and its sad to see it just reduced to a zerg. Just my 2c.
The sad part is this will get patched simply because players bested Blizzard's design, using no exploits whatsoever (that I can think of?). It's just fast DPS and awesome healing with no mistakes.
There are fights that get patched because of arguable exploits, use of terrain that Blizzard didn't anticipate, etc, but to patch this would just be retarded.
By the way, the 3.1 isn't a couple months away, it's about 8 days away. 24 hours if we're lucky, but doubtful.
