Yes, China does not have the same kind of military power as the US, that's something to consider at first, and secondly it doesn't have that same liberal-global ideology of interfering in world affairs sans it being involved personally (which it sort of is), but if China could stand to lose more by assisting NK, i just don't see it happening either as has been mentioned by other people in the thread.

China assisted North Korea back in the 70s because the two governments more or less shared the same communist ideology. 30 years later, it's a different story. I am sure even China will concede that North Korea is a lost cause at this point, but at the same time, it just can't afford to give it up to the US because of obvious security reasons. The optimal solution from China's point of view is to let North and South Korea reunite and let god sort it out.

There would be too much backlash from the world and I don't think that is anything we want to deal with. The official said the North Koreans have pretty much backed themselves into a corner. While they may have begun the process of threatening to launch a missile to gain leverage with the United States, it is now an issue of saving face -- and they are certain to go ahead with the launch.

You must not know NK. The country is so hinged on the ideology of unifying the korean peninsula that it is one of the most isolated and backward countries in the world. I remember reading they imported giant germany rabbits to feed their people because they have no economy and no food or basic provisions for that matter. There's no doubt when NK is liberated, its government will be tried for crimes against humanity.

I heard Ill suffered a severe stroke and was hospitalized for months last year. We are not sure who's in charge at this point.

The reason US not assassinating Ill is more of because we are afraid the generals will run amok and start launching missiles. I think China will turn a blind eye if US can pull this off like in a James Bond movie then deny any affiliation with the incident.

I'm quite unsure where things will go once they launch it, but I would guess everything will just go through protocol within the UN. I think there are enough countries that oppose it that there might be some action taken?

the stuff we learn about NK over here in SK might be propaganda, but i'm sure some of it will be true (to some extent)

NK brainwashes the shit out of their citizens to the point where some of the children over there believe kim is some type of deity. the citizens over there actually believe they are living the good life and have it all, when in reality if they were to move over to USA they would be put into the lowest of the lower class without a second doubt.
not trying to make any points here but just wanted to say there's no good in dissing NK citizens ahead of time, they prolly think this some type of glorious event for their great nation and their leader.

SK is reacting kinda sloppy with this too, honestly i thought my country would take up a strong reaction to this... i guess we smilin' cause it's giving JP a huge fucking headache lol
