They never said they would shoot it down. They said they would shoot it down if debris were going to fall in Japanese territory or if the missile looked like it was going to fail over Japan.

because you have to realize that all NK can do is blow smoke and slowly fall apart and that the way to win is simply to not play the game.

KJI is on his way out and even though a successor has been named, I wouldn't be surprised at all if a new regime was weaker and possibly falls under greater Chinese influence, which would honestly be an improvement.

I don't think the world would be as nervous as it is if they knew it was only blowing smoke. We have very little intel of whats going on inside the country - especially when it comes to weapons. Your scenario is likely, but i dont think the alternative should be ignored

the yahoo article is updated with someone from the SK gov't saying the trajectory the rocket took suggests a satellite. no confirmation on anything making it into orbit though.

Amid the controversy over the rocket launch, North Korea announced last week it would put two American reporters detained at the border with China on trial for allegedly entering the country illegally and engaging in "hostile acts."
