Are you really this dense?
Your trying to create some kind of bullshit logical fallacy. Tradition should dictate balance in an MMO because of it's previous sequels in a franchise where sequels have little next to nothing in common other then a few themes? Is this really the basis of your argument?
Or because you read too much into it. Who said ANYTHING about tradition dictating the balance in an MMO? If you were smart, you would know exactly why I used the word "inspiration" when they created the game.
But, and correct me if I'm wrong, BLM has always been:
A. a nuking class
B. were never a big support class
C. never a big healing class
In every FF game that had a job system.
Or did I miss a FF game or two where they behaved differently? Do you see why I said in FFXI older job based games were the inspiration for how the jobs in the game were made?
Dunno why people talk about this "how jobs were originally" thing?
Hey, SAM in FFXI was a DD that did TP /WS and whack mobs, BLM was a magical DD that tossed spells, SAM got some more playtools that changed alot how the job was being played, BLM still have its 1 JA Elemental Seal and is basicly played the same![]()
What is your point exactly? You want me to say blm needs to be the job that does everything? Brds can't sleep light based mobs, and repose won't work on them either. Every job has something they can and cannot do. This argument about not being supportive holds no weight because how many DDs have support capabilities? Drks can stun, war has voke (if that even counts), etc etc. It's not much so I don't see what you're getting at.
I think the real issue is this: A vast majority of fights you enter into, are long duration. In this situation, a SCH will do more damage than a BLM, every time. This, coupled with the fact that SCH has an entire array of other abilities at it's disposal, which also does in fact get them exp/meripo invites, is just sickening. They out perform BLM in a majority of situations, and have an easier time getting to the upper tiers of merits. Just is blatantly unbalanced.
Or because you really are that dense. Again, what fucking relevance to FFXI does the way BLM use to play in previous games?
Destinye, go hit your head on this nail.Dunno why people talk about this "how jobs were originally" thing?

My point was why people don't invite BLM to pts, because they can only nuke, and due to updates no body seems to care about nuking, they would rather have a DD in that spot, but the reason they invite the OTHER mages is because they have spells and abilites that further enhance the Parties damage or ways to deal quicker/better damage,
while BLM...just sits and twidles it's thumbs. if they aren't nuking, That sum it up for you?
Holy shit you're an idiot lmao. I'll heed my own advice and not further feed trolls.
I think this is being repeated too much, this is not entirely true, and should NOT be used as some standard fact at all.
It takes a pretty good SCH that focus only on nuking to do more dmg in the end here, not to mention SCH are a versatile job that does more then nuking (we know BLMs do more then nuking also, just saying) hence why the statement that SCH overdmg BLMs always, is false, just as false, as any SAM will always outdamage a WAR or a DRG etc etc, this si very situational and depends alot what the job in specific is doing and can do.
But with saying this, some anger towards how SCH gets close to BLM, or even outdamage at times, depending on player, situation and event, SCH is being abit too close to BLM for my own taste in my opinion, I like SCH however and it is a great job, but the SCH vs BLM debate is pretty sad as it is now, the thing to focus on is not that some BLMs anger towards SCH, but rather what would make BLMs more compensable for todays environment of game play, without overpowering and changing it too much.
In my own experience, SCH have yet to out damage me for any event, another problem that comes to BLM down time is enmity, really. And it will just be worse the more your tank sucks.
This applies to SCH also, a obstacle for all jobs types that do damage.
But for BLM in particular with stuns and heavy spike damage this is something that stops me more then having extreme MP issues really, though the MP efficiency been discussed and is way too evil currently for BLM.
I think thats what Yojo meant, about the MP Issues.
BLM and SCH left to their own buffs with as close to equal stats as you can get and I believe the SCH will come out on top solely due to MP.
Obviously this situation doesn't often happen as we are going to have buffs etc, but the current damage is too close to that of a BLM imho, when coupled with the MP efficiency and party support spells SCH has access too.
Why is this mainly being centered around Nuking, as they are capable of it, they do far better at supporting at much less hassle. most of the situations where i could Nuke i was more effective supporting instead. RDM can also nuke, but would you be doing it mainly? i highly doubt it... in a pt of BLM i found it more effective to support them with weather and klimaform rather then tossing my Boomage at the mob, sucking up all my charges i could have been using to keep people alive, and such. nuking is NOT SCHs main forte..it IS to BLM. if i'm fighting Khimira i'm going to be healing and stonesking tanks or weathering BLM (if it's a manaburn style) not pumping out nukes that are likly to get resisted cause i didn't want to spend that extra 5 mil. (rough estimate)
