Well, the person that was doing it was apparently sent to jail today. Then after they came back on another account, did the same thing, and that one got sent to jail too lol.

I havent seen them on line since, so i assume at least a temp ban was given.

Oh no, I had a talk with the guy, he was going on about how he was just trying to enforce the rules and how he was keeping the purity of FFXI by doing this.

He even told he that if he joins a party with a PL, he will put /blockaid on because he thinks its cheating.

There is a lot more he said but the dude seems like a total nut job and acts like he is doing the work of god, lol

Reminds of the dude on alla who got dragged down there for some AF fun on his Cor. They made him two hour and then booted him, he sat there and waited for them to gather mods and then diaga'd them.

I had one person (Littleruby, for anyone Bismarck) /shout for a group for doing this. They showed up and watched us.. then went ahead and AF our mobs. The whole pt ended up dying and only gaining like 3k exp, but its still frustrating... I sat around to watch Littleruby try to pull, it was entertaining

This kind of dumb shit always makes me laugh, people think they can justify "cheating" by means other then what they like/understand, should have asked him so what is so "unfair" about getting outside healing from a pl? they get no exp, or any reward of any kind, they do it out of there own free will, how is it "cheating?" back in the days of the mogglesss dunes, you were GLAD to get a pl.

I wonder if he only joins skillchain + magic burst merit parties with a pld/war tank. I miss those times where 4k/hr was "good xp".

I remember talking one time about how we should just invite some random person in the zone to sync to our party. After all, we would get our level sync and they would get 6-7 levels for just standing there. We then decided against it because we predicted we would get some guy who would bitch about either it being cheating, having his skills go uncapped, or whatever other reason we can't think of.

Really though, it's a pretty petty thing to do. Problem is, you CFH'd on a mob, so all someone has to say is 'I thought they needed help' and the GM will most likely let them away with a warning. So long as they don't do it again on that account, they walk away without any consequences. All I can say is wait for them to get bored of it and go back to business as usual.

There was a kid on Fairy who kept threatening to do this to us. He started out kissing our ass and asking how it worked. When we blew him off, he threatened to steal the mobs. I GM'd him, and never heard from him again (got scared off?). I'd post his name, but he isn't worth mentioning.

The game imitates real life. If I spend my life savings opening a restaurant, it won't be there a week before some dickknot tags the front window and scrawls dirty words in the bathroom. There is a certain kind of person who just can't stand to see other people achieve things.

I've met people that take the self-righteous route, too. Kids that leave xp parties because there is a PL and all that good stuff. That's a nice crusade they've picked for themselves. The world around them is going to hell, but they've chosen to be an e-vigilante for great justice. Don't buy a homeless guy a sandwich, don't teach a kid to read. Nope, make rules about how other people should play a videogame.

As for the people who are just plain jealous, they really don't understand what is involved. If you're doing astralburn right, you know it takes a huge amount of preparation and there are portions that are mindnumbingly boring. The xp reward is ridiculous, but if you want it to be anything other than a random thing you do, you're going to end up spending far, far more time planning than actually killing. I definitely don't miss it.

I'm wondering though, if someone diagas them and you let the person holding die, could you call a gm and be like uhh yeah this guy mpked me because i couldn't sleep the mobs aggroed to me. If it's a retarded GM you stick to the story, if its a smart gm you say ok you know whats going on here and they're doing this to mess with us.

There's no problem with AF burns, it's a perfectly normal and legal way to level. People talk about it because it's good. It gets you a bit better exp than merits/good exp parties and the tradeoff is a bit of a hassle and 2 people (pullers) not getting any exp. When Korroloka gets more and more crowded due to this, people will find other places to do it, and regular level areas become a bit less crowded. I see Astral burns as a win-win, it doesn't hurt anybody, and the "people will ding 75 w/o knowing to play their jobs" has been true since 2003, but the method of leveling has nothing to do with it.
