Ich bin vertraut mit der deutsche Sprache. Ich weiss nicht, was dir zu sagen. Ich habe Deutsch an die Uni gelernt. Ich habe gehoert, dass Rosetta Stone fuer Deutsch nicht so gut ist.

I don't mean to backseat mod, I just have a question and it's related to this thread so I'm gonna post it here since it'll get seen by the mods I want it to (thanks kiro for letting me know sono was in this thread!)

Wasn't there a discussion, idk, years ago, about Avatar/Sigs being SFW? We are getting FAR beyond that and really pushing the lines again which had that brought up in the first place... some discussion about "someone walks past your monitor, and sees _____ on the screen" and then discussion about "well you shouldn't read BG at work" and then a solution of, unless it's stated NSFW then the thread should be SFW right?

Blahblah whatever. Bagels sig, if someone saw that at work, someone would say something to me... I know it's not much, but still "EATING GRASS AND FUCKING EACH OTHER" in huge text? There are VERY suggestive anime signatures and avatars, as well as sigs like bagels, in SFW threads like this one, yeah, was there a new topic saying this was ok or what?

I don't browse these at work too often, just wondering what the limits are again since they seem pretty open.

Whatever you do, don't learn chinese unless you are planing to devote a substantial amount of time into it. By that, I mean years worth. In comparison, Japanese is easy to pick up and almost a cakewalk.

Get over it? Bagels sig is the least offensive thing I've ever seen. And if you don't like pictures, adblock them.

I even stated that it wasn't very offensive - I just didn't know it was the intention of the forum to become entirely NSFW. Offensive does not equal safe for work.

So adblock all images even though there is an enormous amount of images that pass through this site that are safe... Good solution. You at least have the right idea of spoiler tags. Offensive or not, with the jobs and such that some people have on this forum, don't you think things like that are a little overboard?

There is nothing to get over, I view this at home for the most part, but it used to be a concern... Guess it's not now, let me get to work on my sig of 2 dogs fucking with giant text reading "hey look, these dogs are fucking" . I just remember a post way back by mods saying to keep it safe and clean for work, and now that has completely disappeared. Whats considered safe and such so I can abuse it too?

You can adblock specific images? And yea cartoon tanks != dogs. For that matter, get over it. It's TANKS.... EATTING GRASS AND FUCKING..... It's not NSFW. NSFW = porn. As far as "anime sigs and avatars go" ad block them. I'm not sure exactly who you're talking about but I have not noticed any "suggestive borderline nsfw" stuff.

Adblocking the image requires seeing it first. Not everyone uses firefox/adblock either. Can you stop for a second and realize I said the tanks weren't offensive but seeing huge FUCKING isn't appropriate for work? It's not the image of the tank it is the text if you can't understand that.

Your spoiler is NSFW really, there are other people with similar things that aren't spoilered. Just wondering if we can take a lesson from you here and spread that idea around, or have more specifics in the rules about nsfw (or using spoilers for sigs). NSFW apparently only means porn, but there are other inappropriate types of images and shit that aren't technically "safe" as well.

Like I said, I'm not trying to backseat mod, I'm just looking for clarification and/or some way to make things safer since we've always used the "these forums are safe for work" but it's drifting away from that.

tl:dr I guess I'm saying that where is the line between "Not Safe" and "Not Appropriate" for work. Those things shouldn't be viewed either at work, it's a grey area. And spellcheck telling me that "grey" is spelled "gray" is wrong.

yup, not exactly sure why i forgot to put que... i don't really use my spanish at all and i'm forgetting it. i just have an interest in languages

I hear that in some parts of the US, people have to put posters that say "we speak English" considering that, i don't see how it could ever be hard to practice one's Spanish in such a country.

Im going to say that at least for spanish, memorizing common everyday items and verbs before knowing how to string them together works best. conjugation, current action, future and preterit (past) are all pretty easy if you already have that base to work on.

i figure learning the same way you do your native tongue would be optimal. you do get to a point where you need to immerse yourself. i can understand what most of a conversation is in spanish but i get a case of the downs when i try and answer. its just practice putting things together.

i like watching telemundo and spanish movies with english subtitles.

I learned written english from playing Zelda OoT and Pokémon Blue <_< and to speak by watching dragonball z on english cartoon network.

And had English later on in school but I never ever felt as if I was learning anything I didn't already know. Wanted to send that class.... into the next dimension!
