Rebooting troubles
I've been having some trouble for a while with my screen freezing and the ATI VPU Recovery popping up. So after doing a little research a few people mentioned that I should look into updating the drivers for my motherboard and bios. So I went to the dell.com support page and entered my service tag and it gave me a list of drivers that I can update with. There was an chipset file marked urgent for the Intel - Driver and I downloaded that with no problems. Then there was a bios file marked recommended for the Dell Bios v. 2.4.0.
While trying to run this file the message "Pressing OK will close all applications, shut down Windows, Flash the BIOS, then reboot." appears. It closed all my applications, and started to shut down windows but it didn't flash the bios and then just hung at the black screen without rebooting causing me to hold the power button to turn it off. It will boot up fine but without the new bios version, however it still hangs at the end when trying to reboot normally.
After googling "Dell e520 reboot" it looks like there are other people with the same problem but almost all of them are talking in tech and I can't follow the conversation. Help me BG tech community, you're my only hope.

Can you post links to some of these discussions you're unable to understand?

I had this problem since the day I got my xps 710. Sometimes it would happen, others it wouldn't. After a while, I couldn't even shut my PC down without fear of it not starting back up again. It was a faulty power supply and motherboard I think. It finally decided to kick the bucket 2 weeks ago. I called up Dell, and was on the phone for about an hour with Tech. I don't know why everyone says they're awful, my service was fantastic.
Anyway, they figured it was a faulty power supply. Overnight the parts, a teach was out the next day to fix it. Was more than just the power supply. They then overnighted another power supply, motherboard, processor, io switches, and other misc. shit. I basically got my whole PC replaced, and without lifting a finger other than having to call. I have a warranty though.
If you have a warranty, say you did everything they suggested (if if you don't do it) and they'll overnight the parts to a fedex, and a tech will be out the next day. Otherwise, try the above solution.
