I can't wait to hear the VAs for the Xing cast :D :D I really hope that they'll slow down the series (and order another season). If they go the route of the last anime and make up stupid stuff, it's going to be so disappointing.

I thought Al was suppose to learn how to transmute without a circle once he gained his memories back? I forgot when exactly but I remember him learning in the manga, I figured when he remembered what happened and saw the truth.

pretty sure he did, and does. we just havnt seen him use any alchemy yet lol

Yeah I was really disappointed by his voice, I expected it to be more like Hohenheim's in the V1 series but I guess that would get pretty redundant. It's bad enough he looks exactly like him, I think they could have been a bit more creative.

martel being murdered was the shock he needed to regain his memory to the door of truth, it was after that he was able to perform transmutation by just clapping his hand (had a funny part where ed pretty much realizes that he got nothing above al at that point and bitching "should just name this series the armored alchemist")

Also, the anime is kinda skipping ahead in the recalled memory, since they're not supposed to realize that al's soul was attached to the abomination they created until further into the story

They wanted to make him sound old...because...well, he is pretty damn old and invited one version of Alchemy. Also, I guess they didn't want to piss religious freaks out because in the manga, Greed was actually tied up to concrete slabs that looked like a cross.

There is something I've noticed about this version and that is that we seem less connected to the Homonculi as we did in the V1 Anime. I really don't notice it as much when reading the Manga, but I remember feeling a bit of sympathy for them in the V1 Anime because they had interesting storylines such as Lust "falling in love" with an alchemist in order to manipulate him to try to create a Philosopher's Stone. I guess they seemed more human in the original anime.

Well, the homunculus in the first anime is obviously more human on the ground that they were created from human's desire to recreate their loved one, while the one on the manga are the aspect of the original homunculus.

Greed and Wrath does have their sympathetic side though, Wrath being actually amused at the humans that's actually fighting back and ruining the homunculis' plan for the first time, and Greed remembering his allies being slaughtered by the military and revolting against Father again after being reborn in Ling.

What an incredible episode, really looking forward to the next arc.

This show has a way of playing with your heart strings, light-hearted one minute, then a sorrowful bloodbath the next.
