Probably the former. The overall nature of Amestris government was far less malevolent than the manga series'. Considering everyone that was involved in the assault at central were allowed to live peacefully (or in the case of Izumi, dies peacefully) and Mustang's exile was self imposed, I'd imagine Grumman was already high in the chain of command, and just ended up taking over to clean up the mess and do the cover up story or something.

great episode, EXTREMELY LAME they skipped over Ling vs Envy though. extremely lame. was really looking forward to Ling owning the hell out of him.

Amazing episode, I watched the TMD sub first out of desperation. I swear watching the superior Eclipse subs usually make it a lot more refreshing, still feels new and better if that makes sense.

I can't wait till Gluttony finds out about Mustang killing Lust... oh lawd.

Mustang torching Lust played out a bit more epic in my head while reading the manga, but this version was good. Maybe she just pissed me off more the first time.

I think I'm going to reread the chapters before I watch the anime from now on. It seems like it's going to fast.

Shouldn't have skipped the Envy vs Ling part, reading that in the manga was badass, they are burning through this too fast really, alot of good stuff they could have used last episode, doesn't mean it was a bad episode, honestly it was great, but theres alot of really good parts they left out that I think anyone who reads the manga will agree with me here really shouldn't have, would have given them more time to stay ahead of the anime while still being a really good episode or two more.

Not exactly necessary, the Xingese just curbstomp the shit out of him.
